Thank you for the good news of Geithner's confirmation. :)

Both of my senators did the right thing and voted to confirm him.

Now we have a crook in charge, so too bad I can't claim ignorance on my tax bill and make it stick. Just goes to show that we are not equal under the law after all.

A crook confirmed by a bunch of crooks.

1) Please spare me the sarcasm.

2) The guy is a tax cheat.

1) I am quite sincere. I wanted President Obama to pick him and I wanted him confirmed.

2) Oh, and in what court of law did this occur?

Well he didnt pay up until he was appointed by obama. So he knew that he owed the govenment money. Was he convicted in a court of law? Of course not fickle one. But he is unethical and may make it easier for those thinking about cheating when the one in charge of the IRS does it. Kind of like a certain sex act that Clinton popularized among our youth.
Democrats Tom Harkin of Iowa, Russ Feingold of Wisconsin and Robert Byrd of West Virginia joined Independent Bernie Sanders of Vermont broke with President Obama.

Ok Ken, you win.

Well, if you wouldn't engage in hyperbole and would stick to using facts you would have stronger arguments. The folks on your side should learn from Matt Wade in this forum. He is the best debater your side has on the BB.

So, Ken, what would happen if you or I "forgot" to pay our taxes?

You reckon any accountant (short of government) in the country would hire you?

Hmmm?

Word picture for you:

standard standard

I'm just glad that my changing hope, hope and change, I hope he changes, er whatever, is in charge....

Oh, when was he convicted in a court of law?
Perhaps you don't keep up with the news, but he admitted it under oath, and he paid the back taxes, which is a de facto admission of guilt.

Don't play dumb. It doesn't work.

This guy should not be in charge of the treasury. If he can't manage his own money, how will he manage the country's? People who wanted him are showing evidence of bad judgment.

We have a 5-digit tax cheat in charge of the Ways & Means Committee, now we have a 5-digit tax cheat in charge of the treasury. Our country has lost it's mind. We deserve what we get.

I'd rather be water boarded than have to hand my money over to tax cheats.

I cannot believe that any sane individual would disagree with the above statement.

We truly have handed the asylum to the inmates.

He wasn't but you can bet your boots and more than that you or I would be convicted in a court of law ...... or tax court.... if we had made or should make the same mistake.

Asylums are closing, btw, and the inmates are either elected or appointed to public office!

I am glad he was confirmed, and look forward to more Obama confirmations in the future.

Much has been said about how Geithner being a cheat and that he should go to jail. Well, have a brother-in-law who deliberately did not pay all his taxes one year. He was audited and had to pay the back taxes with penalty. He didn't go to jail, just like Geithner would not have gone to jail. He would have had to pay up, which he did, case closed.
