Like I said, discussed respectfully. Accusations are as bad as gloating. I suppose respect is a lot to ask for.

I very much appreciate the prayers and hope that he will guide us. I haven't looked at the weather report lately, but I'm sure it will be cold. Hopefully, no icy conditions.

I'm leaving here to meet my pastor around 2pm. We are going together.

I look forward to getting back and reading some more of your posts.

God bless on your trip as well.

Or we have a bunch of democrats sitting around with beads of sweat on the foreheads praying for him to live purely so thay can maintain their majority.

One scenario is likely to be just as ridiculous or just as true as the other.

There, there, now, take it easy. The realization that Republicans and religious right wingers are no more moral, righteous, or values oriented than the liberals and left wing is hard to take, I know, but you'll eventually get used to the idea.

You have to admit, this looks a whole lot better than the suspicious plane crashes that created the Senate majority for the Republicans in 2000.

You know, it could be that the governor of South Dakota is a man that thinks for himself, and may be the type of man who would pick the best choice regardless of party. What a novel idea.

I gotta say I don't agree with the law. The S.D. people wanted blue, blue is what they should get.

For a variety of reasons, it doesn't always work that way.

    Remember Jumping Jim Jeffords.

Over at DU yesterday, some people were actually accusing the GOP of causing Johnson's medical condition somehow. That's just insane.

I don't care about a majority enough to wish someone dead, he seems to be recovering:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/12/15/AR2006121500151.html

And I hope he continues to improve, and is in your prayers as well.

As long as he draws breath, his seat need not be vacated.

Yes, but Jeffords got elected because he promised to vote with the Democrats on economic policy, and he kept his word. The people of Vermont, who are somewhat less than political-party minded, affirmed his switch and put a Democrat in that seat.

But it looks like this will be a moot point, since it appears Johnson't prognosis for a full recovery is likely.

I wasn't talking about a particular incident. Franken is not a journalist anymore than Rush is. They are both opinionators.

Therefore, it is not reasonable to treat what either of these gentlemen says as reliable news. One has to look to hard news sources to verify a news item that they opine on.

By electing a Republican governor, the people of South Dakota gave him the power to fill a U.S. Senate vacancy if one arose; it is to be expected that a governor will choose a member of his party to fill such a vacancy.

If the people of South Dakota want their governor to replace a Democratic U.S. Senator with another Democrat, then it is incumbent upon them to elect a Democratic governor. Otherwise, they have given their approval for a Democratic U.S. Senator to be replaced by a Republican U.S. Senator should a vacancy need to be filled by a Republican governor.

Well, Ken, I'm with you on what the law says. I just want to avoid the kind of accusatory garbage that people like Jack Matthews regurgitate.

Ah, this might be the kind of "accusatory garbage" of which you are speaking? Your "prayers" are still an aside here, aren't they?

Your buddy Ken H seems to be the one who can't wait for the Senator to kick the can so that the Republicans can keep the senate, for all the good that will do them. But then, he's also heart and soul for Mormonism.

What part of "I hope he recovers from this" did you not understand?

Actually, I am heart and soul for anyone who has come to Jesus in repentance and faith - even liberal Democrats.

So politics surrounding this situation can't be discussed? Even your liberal Democrat buddies are doing that. Maybe you need to clean up your own political house first before jumping on other folks of a different persuasion than yours.
