Sensationalism to sell news

I know...they all do it. But it's still aggravating.

Matt Drudge (http://drudgereport.com/) runs this headline:

Now...if you know history, and the South, and throw in a few stereotypes to boot...what do you think?

Well, it ain't none of it. The victim was a white male, and he probably committed suicide. SOURCE

Tragic? Yes...but I hate seeing "journalists" of any stripe capitalize on stereotypes, sensationalism, and misleading headlines to sell a story. And I usually like drudge. Too many of them might change my mind.

You sound dissapointed.

No no NO NO no!!!!

My first thought was, "Oh my goodness...PLEASE don't tell me we're reverting to this stuff again." I was afraid there was a lynching. And if there were, Alabama would become a circus. It would get ugly, fast. It just bothers me that drudge (and others) capitalize on the sordid history here to sell a story.

Please don't lump me into that crowd. I hate racism with every fiber of my being. And this guy's suicide is indeed a tragedy. His family should be in our prayers.

That was a very misleading headline. Shame on Matt Drudge for that one. And if I lived in Alabama I wouldnt be happy with that type of stereotype. I am originally from Philadelphia and moved to Florida 4 years ago and I find that blacks and whites get along better in the south than the north.
