Ok this is my favorite and most 'self-convicting' sermon. Whenever I get wrapped around myself or lose focus the Holy Spirit reminds me of this sermon. It is not much but it is the whole sermon...intro to conclusion. May the Lord bless it!

“Being a Godly Father”
Thesis: “Men, the most important ministry is not always as a Preacher, Missionary, or Evangelist, but it is always as a Godly Father.”
Introduction: Solomon, credited with being the “wisest man ever”, knew the importance of training his children and of being a Godly Father. *Read Proverbs 4:1-5
I. The Divine Reasons – God does everything with a purpose.
a. God established the family first. *Read Genesis 1:27-28
b. An honorable endeavor. Rewarding for the parents and child. *Read Exodus 20:12 and Ephesians 6:1-3
II. The Direct Results – Things that affect the immediate family.
a. The Children. *Read Proverbs 22:6
b. The Families Name or Heritage. *Proverbs 22:1
III. The Dynamic Affects – How we constantly affect others around us.
a. Others and their relationship with God. *Read I Samuel 2:12-17
Note: Eli’s sons took away the people’s pleasure of offering to God.
b. Others and their decisions for God. *Read I Samuel 8:1-6
Note: Samuel’s sons took away the people’s desire to follow God.
What’s In It For Me? (WIIFM) –I Samuel 15 – God told Samuel to tell Saul to utterly destroy the Amalekites. And when Saul returns from battle with the Amalekites, Samuel hears the noises of cattle and sheep and sees Saul with Agag the Amalekites’ King. I Samuel 15:22 “ And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than to sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of the rams.”…Too Many times we sacrifice our families’ time and attention for the “good of the ministry”.
Conclusion: “If God has Fathers that are following His Word and raising their children to follow God…There will never be a shortage of Preachers, Missionaries, Sunday School Teachers, so forth!!”
