God ceased giving prophets/prophetess to the church after death of John,

You keep saying that as if your saying it - makes it scripture.

Ephesians 4:6-14 says you are not correct on that point.

According to Paul it remains until the 2nd coming.

in Christ,

Bob

Sola scriptura surely seems to preclude the need for latter day prophets/prophetesses.

In Acts 17:11 we see "Sola scriptura" -- IN the actual Bible (as we keep reminding our Catholic friends). There the BIBLE says "They studied the SCRIPTURES daily to SEE IF those things spoken to them by the Apostle Paul - WERE SO".

You seem to imagine that they also shot Paul, John, Peter and all the prophets in 1Cor 14 to death on that day - since they were using sola scriptura.

The point being - there is no Bible support for your idea that everybody stopped prophesying as soon as the sola scriptura rule was used. In fact that sola-scriptura rule was used as far back as Isaiah 8:20 and before (as we keep reminding our Catholic friends).

in Christ,

And Bob Ryan keeping on repeating "According to Paul ... Ephesians 4:6-14 says ... it remains until the 2nd coming" - makes it scripture.

"For now we see in a glass darkly but THEN face to face" 1Cor 13

AT the 2nd coming:
"We shall be like Him for we shall see HIM as He is " 1John 3

Eph 4:6-13

"
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:"

This is the easy part.
