There was only one Ice Age. It began about 4300 years ago. It cooled and grew for 500 years and then took 200 years to melt back to more or less the configuration that we have today with 10% of the earth still covered with ice.

There is no indication that Obama is going to ruin his property by building a seawall and anyway it would have to include all of Martha's Vineyard, as you know.

You don't post very often so let me ask you how much you think the climate has changed in the last century?

And what do you say about sunspots and what should we do to stop solar flares?
As a non-climatologist, and trying to look only at data seemingly free of urban heat island effects, I'd say 1 degree C rise over the past 125 years. The most recent 30 appear to be half or more of that change, but 30 years is too short IMO to distinguish possible AGW from natural cycles.
The Dalton (sunspot) minimum in the 2nd half of the 1800s is attributed, at least in part, to very low sunspot activity. The even colder Maunder minimum 200 years earlier (Europe's "little ice age") had even fewer sunspots. Thus I see a definite connection, and the reduced sunspot numbers during the past two 11-year cycles (and possibly continuing) should give climatologists more data on sun effects. As for "stopping" solar flares, that's science fiction stuff, far outside current and near future human capabilities. We likely can do a better job of shielding electronics and the power grids from the effects of flares (I'm not an electrical engineer, either), but we're not going to fly sunward and change how the star is working. (Maybe "shielding" rather than "stopping" is what you meant?)

The thread is wrongly focused - should be on climate change, not on Greta.

The polar icecaps are melting, & sea level is rising;
extreme weather conditions are more frequent & more calamitous;
water & food shortages are occurring;
deforestation is occurring on a massive scale;
climate, war & racially induced migration is occurring on a massive scale.

Can we, should we be concerned about such things, & attending to to them where we can?

A change I have noticed over the years is the clarity & visibility of the stars. It used to be possible to see stars very brightly. We've moved from the London area to a remote country village, 10 miles from the nearest small town. I've been very disappointed at the night sky.

How much smoke, vapour trails, etc is up there causing not just poor visibility of the stars, but a greenhouse effect?

Greta: I am going to die if you don't do what I tell you about climate change and the green revolution.

Me: My porterhouse is getting cold and my plastic bottle of water is getting warm. Why don't you go back to Sweden on the next jet?

Time for little Greta to go home - her 15 minutes is up! Good grief, they are all in a frenzy about this. Man will be long gone from this planet and the earth will still be here in the solar system spinning around. These people worship the created, not the Creator.

The problem we have now is that the poles are shifting and that is the main cause of all this "climate change". That and the unprecedented solar activity of the sun and there is nothing man can do about either.

Wish I had copied a selfie she posted of her & some dork sitting next to her wearing antifa t shirts. She deleted it soon enough, & claimed it wasn’t hers, she had borrowed it, probably because she had to pack light for the trip. Un huh.

Thanks! I didn't hear about that before. She is far left so she fits right in with antifa and of course she wants everyone to do as she says or she will die so she is in favor of violence as she wants my SUV and she wants me to stop eating lots of meat and using lots of plastic stuff. She suffers from depression, probably caused by her parents. She would be happier in Malmo where she would not have to worry about climate changes so much as being attacked by the Muslims that own that town day and night.

Here is a link to Breitbart and the picture of her wearing her fascist clothes:

HEY! I'm guessing there is a gas or diesel engine hidden in a little nook or cranny somewhere on that boat.

Good point!

The State Department should bar her from ever visiting the USA again. I am not going to obey her even if she repeats that she is going to die unless everyone does what she says. She is a corporate representative for a consortium of green energy Europeans who sell windmills and solar panels, etc. She just wants the money. A homely child.

Well, I listened to her speech and had to agree wholeheartedly with the opening: “This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be up here. I should be back in school…on the other side of the ocean.” Amen, Greta.

She may one day wish that’s exactly where she had been.

Don't you read your own EU news? Or do they suppress it there?

Try reading this: The EU's diesel fiasco - The Commentator

The EU's diesel fiasco

Wherever you stand on climate change, the utterly cynical policy in Brussels to promote diesel caused a pollution nightmare. Now they're preparing to prosecute at least 5 governments for having polluted cities! And the European taxpayer is left with the bill for this fiasco. Thank goodness we voted for Brexit.
But as for that last bit--Brexit--ever heard of "Hotel California"?

Another punk like David Hogg. I submit their leftist upbringing is what has ‘stolen’ their childhoods. You now have kids crying that there is no reason for them to even study in school.........because the world is coming to an end. Well, they were there long enough to learn that, now weren’t they?! They learned how to be victims too, always a handy card to play.

It could have been David Hogg's "leftist upbringing" that stole his childhood or it could have been the guy who murdered 17 of his classmates.
Alls I care about is Jesus Christ and him crucified.

Trump trolls poor little Greta. Walks right past her to address the media. Doesn’t give her THE opportunity to accost him with her practiced talking points, which I’m sure was part of the plan. The look on her face is priceless. He wins again, like a boss, who, by the way, is doing it for us. Who has worked so hard for me before? Nobody. SilverSurfer on Twitter
Yes, but she had already shown her hand, so ignoring her was a no-brainer, no pun intended. :Wink

My late mom's name was Greta. In a way, I'm happy she didn't see THIS Greta, who's obviously being played by some environmental wackos somewhere. Mom woulda set her straight in a hurry!

I just heard on the radio that Greta has some mental issues and a form of autism. If so, they should be ashamed of themselves for exploiting her. Although, they wont be
