Sheehan Arrested During Anti-War Protest
Sep 26 1:51 PM US/Eastern

By JENNIFER C. KERR
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON

Cindy Sheehan, the California woman who has used her son's death in Iraq to spur the anti-war movement, was arrested Monday while protesting outside the White House.

Sheehan and several dozen other protesters sat down on the sidewalk after marching along the pedestrian walkway on Pennsylvania Avenue. Police warned them three times that they were breaking the law by failing to move along, then began making arrests.

Sheehan was the first taken into custody. She stood up and was led to a police vehicle while protesters chanted, "The whole world is watching."

I don't condone her actions, but I gotta admit that I really feel for her. I only hope and pray that she can properly channer her legitimate grief.

That's true, Johnv.

Grief is not always handled well by mothers and well, anyone who has suffered an extreme loss.

It's my opinion that she is not so much exploiting her own grief as she is unknowingly festering it and extending it.

Just my opinion.

But it's the anti-war people who don't even KNOW her who and who are using her grief-driven instability as a rallying flag that are the exploiters of her grief and of her dead son.

I pity her. Even in her civil disobedience.

Shame on them.

Peace-
Scarlett O.

I don't feel sorry for her. She has disgraced the memory of her son and exploited his sacrifice for fame and political gain. Anyone who has listened to her closely knows this isn't just about her grief or the war in Iraq. Her 15 minutes are almost over...good riddance to bad rubbish.

My reaction to his death:
Her son went into the military voluntarily. What happens when you join the military? You fight wars. What happens in wars. Soldiers die. He RE-INLISTED in 2003, after he knew full well he would be sent to Iraq. He died doing what he was committed to do- being a soldier in the US Army.

My reaction to her reaction:
I understand she must have terrible grief- and so does every parent whos son or daughter died while in service to his/her country. And she as a citizen is well within her rights to protest. But in my view, she is shaming her sons honor that he earned through death by saying that he died for nothing. She should be sad that he is gone, but proud for who he was and what he chose to be.

My reaction to her arrest:
She shouldn't have sat in a no sitting zone.

I disagree about disgracing her son's memory. If she disgraces anyone, it is herself and herself only. Her son died for his country regardless of how any of us feel re: the war in Iraq. His memory and honor are intact.

Anything to avert the eyes off the incompetence of
the bush administration...Karen Hughes being the latest(Arab emissary) ...and more ..bush just rehired Michael
Brown back at FEMA.

Jesus wasn't the last person thrown in jail and
Cindy Sheehan is in good company.

noticed the competing rallys in D.C. over the
last week...one anywhere 100,000 to 300,000 the
pro war rally just had a smattering..but C-span was
fair and covered it.

Because those of us on the pro-war side have jobs.

As far as I am concerned, Cindy Sheehan is an ignorant fool who should be ignored as you would ignore a blathering little child.

At the point where her inane rants become illegal activities, such as today, it is time to stop ignoring the little girl and give her a good dose of punishment.

She really needs a whippin.

Have you ever wondered where all these people get all the time and money to go and protest, and make absolute idiots out of themselves, while claiming to be for the poor? Some of us actually work for a living.

Amen. </font>[/QUOTE]If you've seen the pictures of her "arrest", she doesn't seem to be grieving too much at the moment.

The reason this movement won't really take off is because there is no draft and all these guys in Iraq volunteered for the military. The protestors don't get that - it's not like the Vietnam days.

Politically there could be building opposition for the usual oily political reasons, but a hue and cry won't come from the masses when we have a volunteer army.

He's been rehired as a consultant. Not that I ever expect you to tell the whole story.

Perhaps you could tell us what laws Jesus broke during his earthly ministry.

From the reports I have seen and read, she does not speak for the rest of the family, particularly, her son's father.

I'm sure she was so proud when he joined up. I know grief is a powerful thing, but her son died for something he believed in.

That's even worse. At least as a public employee, his salary was limited by law. If he was unqualified as FEMA director, what is his expertise for being a consultant?

Like monkeys you see no evil and hear no evil but speak evil against Sheehan who is exposing our evil government.

Our conquest of Afganistan and Iraq has been prophesied:

"Indeed, wine betrays him; he is arrogant and never at rest. Because he is as greedy as the grave and like death is never satisfied, he gathers to himself all the nations and takes captive all the peoples."

"Because you have plundered many nations, the peoples who are left (Iran) will plunder you. For you have shed man's blood; you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them."

"Woe to him who builds his realm by unjust gain to set his nest on high, to escape the clutches of ruin! You have plotted the ruin of many peoples, shaming your own house and forfeiting your life."
(Hab. 2:5,8-10)NIV.

Our evil government has "plotted the ruin of" Iraq before Bush became President in 2000.
