This increase should be alarming to all of us. The brave men and women who go to work each day to protect us, have been facing extreme stress as the number of cops killed by gunfire within their ranks is up a whopping 56%. Craig Floyd, CEO of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, a nonprofit that produces the annual report, said a "growing anti-government sentiment" is to blame for influencing people to attack police.

Any opinions and views regarding Craig Floyd's statement?

Funny how numbers can show whatever people want them to show. Let's examine some other facts/numbers.

2013 was a historically low year.

In 2012 there were 49 police officers killed by shooting.

In 2014 there were 50 police officers skilled by shooting.

Shooting of Cops up 2% in 2014 over 2012!

You continually complain about people attacking and "bullying" you, yet when someone responds to an article you post, and doesn't make a single comment directed at you, the first thing that you do is make it into a personal thing.

RD2 - please think about this. Statistics aren't terribly accurate when comparing one year to the next. Comparisons over five years are better; ten, even better; and so on.

Who does it benefit to post this 56% number? Answer: those that want to institute populace-monitoring systems, and the gun-control lobby.

In the first case, more/better monitoring of the population would theoretically lead to fewer police and civilian deaths.

In the second - less guns on the streets means less shooting deaths of cops and civilians.

If there's another benefit to this statistic, please let me know.

Busted! I guess you have been so contrary for so long it is difficult for me to be contrite! We'll leave it at that, and hope this is a new and better relationship giving way to antagonistic hearts?

Great point ... Stats can be made to say anything. It's all up to who is reading them and how they want to spin them.

We've watched presidents use stats to support their administration and policies for al long as we can remember. And this president doesn't even use stats, because he turns a blind-eye to the numbers, and uses only the ones he can eke out to his good!
