Shortage of Guns & Ammo

Last year must be a record of sorts for gun sales in the USA as well as ammunition sales.

The causes seem to be the spike in crime due to the pandemic, the long summer of big city riots, and the fraudulent election.

Gun stores have few guns in stock and ammo supplies seem to be limited to a few boxes of 12 gauge shotgun shells.

The shortage and high prices look to continue for a long time due to Biden’s stated intentions of gun confiscation.

The US is one crazy country for allowing people to buy weapons that murder people! I think that it is the only country on God's earth, that allows guns so freely! Hopefully Biden will change this so called "right" to murder!

Only free men are allowed to own weapons to protect their families and country. Slaves are not allowed.

and use them to murder! If guns were not so freely available in the US, I am sure that there would be many thousands of less people being killed. Take, for example what happened in the White House the other week, were it ended with 5 people being killed. If that was here in the UK, there would have been zero deaths!

London murders with household butcher knives so skip the lecture as numerous statistical studies have shown that the crime rate drops where honest people are allowed to carry guns. Also, part of the spike in gun purchases is by white Democrats living in black cities.

Too bad you lost all your guns in a boating accident

You keep measuring everything by your British standard even though you know better! Really why?

If Americans used their guns to murder, there would be no more Americans. So logic demands we are doing something else with all the hundred millions of firearms. Only a tiny small fraction of criminals use them for harm. Another good reason to keep them. I have a video to show you later. You have been fooled by the worlds system teaching you that guns are bad, when in fact they are very good and fine things. I hate that you are missing out.

If as you say guns are so good, then you should be able to buy them freely from any store

"In 2017, the most recent year for which complete data is available, 39,773 people died from gun-related injuries in the U.S., according to the CDC. This figure includes gun murders and gun suicides, along with three other, less common types of gun-related deaths tracked by the CDC: those that were unintentional, involved law enforcement or whose circumstances could not be determined."
  • So almost 40,000 deaths per year from firearms.

"The following facts are based on analysis of data from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS). There were 33,654 fatal motor vehicle crashes in the United States in 2018 in which 36,560 deaths occurred."
  • So almost 37,000 deaths per year from automobiles.

"CDC estimates that influenza has resulted in between 9 million – 45 million illnesses, between 140,000 – 810,000 hospitalizations and between 12,000 – 61,000 deaths annually since 2010."
  • So up to 61,000 deaths per year from the flu.

"In 2018, there were 48,344 recorded suicides, up from 42,773 in 2014, according to the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS)."
  • So about 48,000 deaths per year from suicide.

Firearms are, thus, slightly more dangerous than motor vehicles and less dangerous than the flu. Firearms are less dangerous than motor vehicles if we subtract suicides. The effort to eliminate firearms would save more lives if "motor vehicles" were eliminated instead, and even more lives if the effort was directed at improving mental health.

None of this can justify guns freely available for the masses

Correct. The justification for an armed populace is a quote from Alan Moore:
“People shouldn't be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people.”

and John Basil Barnhill:

"Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty."

(... and this is a Capitalist system, nothing is "freely" available; it all costs money.) ;)
