Should A Pastor Be Paid?

If you call your pastor at 4 am to tell him you want him at the hospital because your spouse is dying;
it may be a bit hard for him to do so if he has to be at work at 6 am.

There are times that a pastor has to be bi-vo - but the church should work at getting to the point
where they can support a full time pastor.

Paul taught it is better to be uni vocational than be crap at both vocations, being divided in your loyalties and responsibilities. Total dedication to ministry.

The benefits today are that you don’t need to be paid, because you aren’t supporting a family, and you are totally available for your community 24/7.

And you can lose your life preaching the Gospel without worrying about a family to support.

You can go to dirt poor communities that can’t support a pastor and live on scraps and morsels without burdening them.

Father Damien went to Molokai, a quarantined poor leper colony, eventually catching the disease himself and dying of complications from it.

The celibate man can be sent into hellholes, where no families have any business being.

1 Timothy 4:2-3

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

Papal law

(Canon 33): "It is decided that marriage be altogether prohibited to bishops, priests, and deacons, or to all clerics placed in the ministry

On Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all Fridays of Lent: Everyone of age 14 and up must abstain from consuming meat.

Who besides the catholic church forbids marriage and commands its followers to abstain from eating meat?

To have a "seared conscience" is to have one's ability to discern right from wrong, and to feel guilt or conviction over wrongdoing.

When someone conscience has become seared no amount of Truth will be able to persuade them.

You will not understand, But that doesn't mean others will not be able to see the Hypocrisy of the mother of harlots, the RCC

There's no salvation in the RCC

A1 - Z26

The mother of harlots = 226
The roman catholic church = 226

At the centre of the square is the Vatican obelisk, erected at the current site in 1586.

"The word 'obelisk' literally means 'baal's shaft' or baal's organ of reproduction. It is almost always placed in the center of a circle .

In Matthew 12:27, Jesus calls satan “beelzebub,” linking the devil to Baal-Zebub, a Philistine deity (2 Kings 1:2).

This conversation sure took a turn. What is going on?!
What's going on is Cathode posted how Pios catholic priests are by their being celibate-(abstaining from marriage)

So, I asked her a question

Besides the RCC, who forbids its clergy from marriage and its members from eating meat that God gave to those that know the Truth?

Providing Scripture.

The Answer is No one does.

Hypocrisy referring to the act of feigning virtues or beliefs that one does not possess, a "fake face"

the fake face of the RCC

Ephesians 5:11
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

There is nothing new under the sun

I see this is your first post, did what I say strike a nerve?

The most two important figures in a church...

1. The Senior Pastor
2. The Worship Director

A good time in Worship followed by a good time in the Word makes for an excellent Sunday. I would take care of these people.

The Priesthood and celibacy is voluntarily, people take vows voluntarily knowing what the life and vocation entails.

What Paul was referring to was Gnostics who banned marriage altogether in their communities and who were also strict vegetarians.
They also denounced sex and sexuality and the consumption of all meat “ as of this world “, by all members for all time.

Gnostics forbad marriage and even sex and eating meat to all members permanently.

Catholics simply follow Paul’s teaching that it is better to remain as he was in ministry, celibate, so they don’t have divided responsibilities.

Also Paul states that

“I say this as a concession, not as a command. 7 I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.
8 Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do. 9 But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.” 1 Cor 7

Celibacy is a gift, and part of the discernment for the priesthood is that person has this gift like Paul. People of long established self control, that are sacrificial enough to give up having children, family and home.

“And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life.”

Catholics are very sacrificial, celibacy is the least thing a religious gives up, there is also vows of poverty and obedience and for some silence as well.

As to foods, the Church does have the power to rule on that biblically as well. We see with the prohibition of eating the meat of snared animals.

Abstinence from food is also advocated periodically biblically, God Himself imposed dietary prohibitions.

So it’s all biblical.

Man, you have been totally fooled by photoshopped images, makes me laugh. You must be really keen to hate the Catholic Church.

It’s been cropped and wide angled to make the side wall windows look like they are eyes up front. I’ve been there, and it looks nothing like a snake.

Don’t be so gullible.

The Vatican obelisk was brought to Rome from Egypt in 40 Ad.

Obelisk comes from the Ancient Greek Word obelískos for spit or pointed pillar.

Obelisks were used to commemorate people or events.

The Pope repurposed the obelisk to commemorate the victory of Christianity over the pagans.

You have been told many lies, you need to extricate yourself from that dark deadly mire.

The senior pastor IS the director of Worship!
But what does that have to do with the matter if a pastor should be paid?
Do we only pay someone if he is "important"?

I would get behind the church and support these people. Financially, in attendance, and in encouragement. As far as finance I believe it is the leadership of the church who figures out what they can afford. And in some cases they provide both for their own and for others as well...

I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service. - 2 Corinthians 11:8
