I know there are objections within church circles as to women leading, preaching and even teaching men let alone churches.

If this is how many men and even some women feel about women in regard to having any role over men, does that apply to women in the office of president of the US?

Dude,

My personal opinion is that God made men and women for differing roles. These roles have been all messed up by mankind. I don't think God intended for women to lead men. However men today are weak and someone has to lead so women are having to step up. I will duck now....

Sadly, I have to agree with you.

Secondly, this is a complex subject. At least from a layman's standpoint. (And, as always, if I'm in error in what I'm about to say, please let me know.)

A. Throughout scriptures God used both men and women to accomplish His will.

B. Often discussed is the role of women in the household and in the church. Men should be spiritual leaders in both places. Does this extend to government? Is there anywhere in the scriptures that states "Caesar" cannot be a woman?

C. In this age, in this country which elects leadership..... In God's eyes which is the greater sin? To elect and submit to a depraved man or to elect and submit to a God fearing woman? If the next election pits a homosexual man against a woman who walks with God, what would your choice be? (For sake of discussion -- you will vote and there are no alternative candidates.)

D. In heaven all will be the same with regards to the various divisions (gentile/Jew, men/women, etc.) that exist on earth today.

In closing, a final comment. If this nation doesn't experience a great revival and return to putting God into the center of our existance, it won't matter who lives in the Whitehouse. Biblical history has shown us over and over again, when the wrath of our Almightly God is kindled, the mighty are brought to their knees.

The role of women in the church is clearly defined in scripture, and it is a more limited role than that of men. The role of women in politics is neither defined nor limited by scripture. Let's not forget that Deborah was one of the early, and one of the most successful, judges of Israel.

There doesn't appear to be a Biblical prohibition against a woman leading over men in a non-CHURCH role.

This is very true in CHURCH circles. The women have had to step up for so long because the men wouldn't even go to church let alone be the leaders.

But there is a Biblical historical precedent of women being leaders in secular endeavors.

I will tell any woman who believes she has been called to pastor that she's hearing stuff and that the calling is probably for her HUSBAND but he won't step into it.

Once again I can't answer your poll.

I would vote Yes, but whether or not I'd help her get elected is another question.

I wonder how many who say no would have voted for Sarah Palin?

Not gonna happen. The CHURCH is too hardheaded and doesn't really care what God has to say just as Israel didn't care before it was destroyed.

We say that we do and we set about "fixing" what is wrong our way instead of His.

There won't be a revival because the Church, en masse, can't even come to grips with its wickedness that we keep trying to label as Godliness.

I would and have voted for women, but it has nothing to do with them being women. They received my vote because of what they said they would try and do and how they would do it.

It cracks me up to no end that there are those who would vote for an outspoken Christian women to run their country, state, city, etc.. but would then think this same individual is unqualified to be a leader in their local church. The hoops to jump through could probably earn someone a gold medal at the Olympics, never mind they ethical conundrum of having to choose the "lesser of two evils". Many sleepless nights I'm sure!

Now you have answered the OP
My answer is that I absolutely have no problem with the right woman being President. I can think of lots of women who would have been a better President than LBJ, Carter, Clinton, or Obama. This issue has no connection whatsoever to the role of women in the church.

I am the last one to admire a liberal Democrat, but I will go so far as to say that Hillary Clinton would have been a much better choice than Barack Obama in the 2008 primaries.

Personally, I think Jan Brewer, governor of Arizona, would be a good choice.
