welllll....it's becoming clear that if any criminals are viewing this BB thread, they're NOT gonna bother this gang!

The way that I read the verse, he was giving the disciples permission to defend themselves.
But doesn't that take place before he commanded them NOT to take sword, purse, etc? That is in one of the other gospels, but comparing them, this instance seemed to be at an earlier event.

Some should check the statistics on self defence. Many of those guns are used by the criminals against the defender, and guess who ends up on a slab.

Cheers,

Jim

what kind of guns?

like the ones that shoot? or the ones on my arms?? hahahah. :D
---

if only guns were able to shoot spiritually at the demons. then we could be demon hunters.

then it would defeat the purpose of Christ dying on the Cross...
---

hunting only. use a bat for defense. or your supernatural karate moves. and prayer.(spiritual defense)

don't have or want guns in the house.

Or bows and arrows.

Or swords.

Or slingshots.

The only fishing net we have is the kind on a little metal handle for getting dead fish out of the tank.

Our dogs are enough LOL....

Just passing ...

I was highjacked about a year ago - four guns to the head and a fifth cocked from a car window God saved me that day.
Then I heard some statistics (here in South Africa) of about nine out of ten persons with a gun highjacked, get shot; and about one out of ten without a gun, get shot.
I don't say I wasn't shot because I didn't have a gun; I believe the Lord proved Himself the Faithful for the trillionth time - I just didn't know it; now He only made me aware of His love and protection. God be thanks and glory!

Well, I hope none of you ever unintentionally scare my wife. She has a pistol, stun gun and pepper spray. She is packing heat and will use it. I am scared to come home late at night myself.

One other thing, she watches every scary movie they have ever made so its like a hair trigger.

For those of you who have a gun or other weapons!!!

If Someone broke into your home would you feel more protected with a gun??

If that buglar was going to kill you do you think that gun would make a difference?

I mean after all not even the sea can make a splish or a splash without God controling it. Do you not feel that God will protect you with or without a gun??

Thanks!!!

Protecting ones home is not the only reason to own a gun. Some people hunt, some just like to shoot. I own two - both gifts from my dad. I rarely take them out of hiding, but I own them just the same.

everybody has a weapon - whether they think they dont or do.

i wouldn't feel any safer if i had a loaf of bread. it really doesn't matter if its a gun or not. anything and everything can kill anybody and everybody.

if a thief was going to kill me - would me pointing a gun at the guy make a difference? maybe to the thief yah - but then you gotta question - why make it look like your going to kill somebody by pointing a gun at them?

even if they are harsh with you and threatened to kill you - why have a gun? its not like you have time to go and get it. unless you sleep with it.

why have a gun at all? two reasons

1) Hunting for animals (not humans)
2) For fun on the range just to have the thrill of shooting something INanimate

not for defense - or attack. why not for defense?
well - as a said earlier - why make it look like your going to shoot somebody? cause it'll scare them off?

why not witness to them instead of having a fear of man? - why not have a fear of God and witness to the thief who's holding a gun to your head?

Yea sure, a gang break in to rob you and rape your wife and daughter and you going to witness to them "do you have Jesus in your life", I am sure that would get the job done alright. I suspect your wife in that position would like to have the gun to use on you. :wavey:

Noticed a lot of information.

Yes, many people find their gun turned on them in an armed intrusion.

However, most people that know how to use a gun, find that the armed intruder is at a distinct disadvatage against an armed homeowner. They do not know the home, they tend to panic (they often do not know how to use a gun), and the armed homeowner that knows how to use a gun - has a difficult time missing.

i'd be a little more uneasy yeah - but i dont witness to people by asking "do you have Jesus in your life?"

what a watered down gospel.
---

would you, Brother Bob, put yourself in a situation where you would kill someone because they did something to your family?

can killing somebody, doesn't matter what the situation is, be justified?
I'd much rather leave the punishment up to God, as well as the injuring.
---

if you didn't witness to the gang - and they shot you - then on their way back to their hideout - they all got in a car crash and died. and ended up in the lake of fire.

how would you feel for not sharing the gospel with them?

(a little more uneasy????)

If you mean someone breaking into my home and doing harm to my family then the answer is and astounding "YES"

A man that won't provide for his family is worse than an infidel and hath already denied the faith. "Provide" also means to "Protect them".

You testify to them and I guarantee you that I will have them praying quicker than you!!!

how would you feel for not sharing the gospel with them?
Are you really serious?

What if you were the one having his head cut off over in Iraq and having it televised. Man, get in the real world.
water downed gospel ( Makes me wonder)

wouldn't be by killing the gang off though. how? i really dont know until that happens - if it ever does.

what IF i was the one having my head cut off and having it televised?
what would be the reason i was having my head cut-off?
