Should Christians take political sides?

It is this affinity for being ‘Evangelical’ while holding tight to a emotionally charged political position that distressed many. And because of that, there are many that are eliminating the word evangelical from their titles. I won’t, I’m proud to reach out to people and discuss Jesus and the kingdom... without all the political undertones.

But you can express your opinions just as much as anybody else when you are not reaching out to people about Christianity, right? Isn't that a more limited context, then?

I think most of us have enough common decency not to get in peoples' face about politics in most social interactions, anyway.

Does any minister reach out to potential converts by asking them if they had an abortion and telling them if so, it is a sin? Or asking about their sexuality and telling them they will not be allowed into the gates of heaven if it is not Biblically approved? Or asking if they voted for Hillary, and telling them if so, God doesn't love them?

I do. But I do not drive people away whom I should be trying to reach, by associating Jesus with political views.

Are you saying that people should be publicly against abortion without saying the reason why their conscience is convicted about it? Do you think that self-censorship or shyness would fool anyone? Feminists and Leftists would ruthlessly smoke out the Christianity from behind the veil.

Or are you saying that Christians should not not publicly advocate against abortion at all, just in case it might drive away potential converts who happen to also be pro-choice, if they become offended?

Would supporting pro life and against gay marriages be associating jesus with political views?
Those are purely biblical views. You can shoot your feet out from under you by making them political. Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Use scripture and let it do the work.

Should we support a political party that affirms those issues or not?

No, the bible condemned abortion long before the USA or any of its political parties. Question, if the unsaved American has a carnal mind, why should Christians adopt the same for themselves?
