If there were 77 books of the bible they may have included....

1. The Book of Enoch - Bible Gateway passage: Jude 14 - King James Version
2. Chronicles of the Kings of Israel - Bible Gateway passage: 1 Kings 16:5 - King James Version
3. The book of Samuel the Seer - Bible Gateway passage: 1 Chronicles 29:29 - King James Version
4. The book of Nathan the Prophet - Bible Gateway passage: 2 Chronicles 9:29 - King James Version
5. The Gospel according to Thomas
6. Other epistles of Paul as he once said, "I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:" - 1 Corinthians 5:9 Indicating, that he had written other epistles that did not make it into the Bible.

In Kings we have three series...

1. The Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah - Which we call Chronicles
2. The Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel and Judah - Which we call Kings
3. The Book of the Kings of Israel - Which is lost

Now the acts of David the king, first and last, behold, they are written in the book of Samuel the seer, and in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the book of Gad the seer, - 1 Chronicles 29:29

And other books as well such as Nathan the Prophet and Gad the Seer. And I would look for a few more written by the Apostle Paul...

And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. - 2 Peter 3:15-16

We don't have those books in our canon. Just because a book is referenced in the Bible doesn't mean that book is scriptural. And, when we go outside of the current canon, there are some very real question of authenticity of the books that claim to be those books references in the Bible.

Not all of them failed to make the canon because of lack of authenticity. There are other factors that were put into the choosing of the canon.

Even if we would find books that would pass the authenticity test I do not believe it would be accepted in our lifetimes enough to add to the 66. So even if there were more books, the matter of acceptance would prevent them from being added. I was just wondering, but after reading posts, I believe that there will always be 66 books books making up the Bible in my lifetime here on planet Earth.

At this point no one would be willing to add to the books except liberals, charismatics, and maybe some Catholics (which really gets covered in liberals)

We have also the Gospel according to Barnabas that may have predicted the rise of the prophet Mohammed. This work is also anti-Pauline and anti-trinitarean. As Paul and Barnabas were friends, also something the actual Barnabas would have never wrote. Which would be the problem of adding books to the Bible, and that is finding the actual author who published the manuscript?
