Should the Pledge have been recited?

Last night - Sun 24 Oct) there was a debate, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, with 3 candidates for the House in Ill. One individual wanted to know if the Pledge of Allegiance would be recited. The moderator said no, since it was not on the agenda.:tear:

I'm not sure the take on this one, O Great One of the Salty City

Its would seem to me that the whole thing led by the unseen but "voicy" individual in back of the camera---put the whole crowd into a "Catch 22" predicament(boy, have I ever been in some of those)

Do we follow proper protocol/proceedure more in line with the session's assigned Moderator

or

Do we break protocol and have us a mini-Boston Tea Party----toss the Moderator's wishes aside and hold our right hand over our heart and "say the pledge"????

To me----to say or not say the pledge falls under a constitutional right---we've got a right to say it---we've got a right not to----thats the American way

But on the other hand---to follow the lead of the Moderator in doing what is right and just and moral---is also the American way--she says sayin' the pledge was not on the agenda----well---if you want to say the pledge---at that point say it to yourself and then go on with the meeting!! No harm done!!

To me---it showed bad taste coming from those who wisked aside the parlimentary(sp) rules and guidelines to do something they "thought" to be patriotic----just totally un-American to bring embarrassment upon the Moderator in charge

I'm with you here. On the other hand one should know what the group stands for before you go in. If you are going to a Gator fan parts, don't be surprised when someone does not like your Bulldogs, or they don't want to talk about how great Vince is or was.

Well I have to say I loved the video. I am sick to death of these politically correct controllers telling us what we can and cannot do. I am proud of the crowd that stood up to her. Nothing seemed rehearsed or planned to me, simply a spontaneous group standing up for what was right.

It reminds me of a ball game I went to years ago where they tried to stop the prayer and we all stood up and quoted the Lord's prayer together. Yea, in NC we still have student led prayers at all sporting events, at least in my county we do. They haven't tried to stop it since.
