We should enable the draft because of ISIS? No thanks. The standing Army as it is now will do just fine. We have no obligation to do any nation building things this go around. We also do not to need to have every square inch of the country occupied by US forces like last time. We go where the enemy is. The brigade combat teams were created for just this kind of situation. Highly concentrated and mobile forces capable of swarming the enemy and sustaining itself on the move. The Army can simply do what they are supposed to do. Destroy the enemy. I have no doubt that the UK and Australians will join in on the endeavor. The UK has a real problem with it's own population joining ISIS so they are even more vested in this than we are.

Please be more specific as to what you are referring to.
Just curious - what is your military background?
Not only those two countries, but all of NATO. Seems as though NATO says - an attack upon one is an attack on all.
During our latest phase in Iraq every square inch of the country was essentially carved up and assigned as "battle space" to a land owning unit. They mostly mirrored geographical borders but not always. A Company would be assigned a neighborhood, a Battalion would be assigned a county etc...etc. This was mostly so that all of the nation building duties could be performed in concert with the local politicians in the area. A partnership so to speak.
I don't think we would have to spread ourselves as thin if our only objective is to hunt down ISIS. Strategically placed HUMINT operators throughout the country would be necesarry with some localized command and control abilities sprinkled in as well.
Salty, I served with the 25th Infantry Division, (2-14 CAV). I was an FA officer in charge of the Squadron's fires and effects cell (lethal and non-lethal) 90% of the operations were non-lethal. Civil works projects, economic sustainment, governance coaching were the main focus.

U.O.T., thanx for your service. I had a feeling you had been there. You and zaac. Sapper Woody, I think, too. All Gulf War vets. My brother Tim retired CWO4 after 30 years in 2011. I lost count of his deployments. I deployed to the Persian gulf 3 times, myself, in the Navy, back about 32-33 years ago. Thanx for serving.
As to the O/P, I believe we can do something like Thomas Jefferson did with the Barbary Pirates, who also did not have a state. If these ISIS nut jobs truly pose a threat.
But I do not trust the current congress to support each other when the going gets tough. We saw how the democrats threw a hissy fit when Bush decided to have the war they demanded. And we saw Republicans that refused to fight to win .Our troops will be nothing more than ways to get in and secure political points.

Likewise Brother Curtis. I think the Republicans may be painting themselves into a corner on this one though. With the constant criticism with regards to Obama being indecisive about ISIS, I feel that when he does pull the trigger it will essentially be akin to telling Republicans to put their money where there mouth is. They aren't going to be able to have it both ways. If or when this happens is subject to debate I guess. There are rumblings of getting the band back together though. (Coalition Forces) I think ISIS is most likely dangerous enough that both sides will realize that we have a pretty significant problem on our hands and it isn't going away. I loathe to commit forces back into that place. I'm still content to pick away at them through airstrikes.
Maybe your time would be better served correcting your own mistakes in life.

Yep, but it was just 350 sent to Baghdad to plus up our embassy interests. These guys aren't part of some invasion force.

Yes exactly. We will never have in Iraq what we have in places like Germany, Okinawa and South Korea. These are obviously modern nations that enjoy stable security in which American servicemen can safely integrate and interact with.
if not a declaration of war, then perhaps a declaration of "ISIS Hunting Season". Time to exterminate these war criminals. Smash them until they are no more.

Should WWIII start, there will be less focus on technology and more on manpower. There are ways to neutralize technology today, and we'd better be ready for a Normandy, Battle of the Bulge type warfare!
And let's hope and pray this never happens, but should mother Russia get entangled with NATO; China would be drawn in, and we'd see Bible prophecy coming to pass right before our eyes!
