Silence on the poll makes Calvies look like Cowards

Two reasons I couldn't care less about that poll:

1. I refuse to fuel/feed Winman's obsessive crusade against the truths of sovereign grace.

2. In the words of the psalmist, "Neither do I exercise myself in great matters, Or in things too wonderful for me".

I know that God is good and just and righteous in all matters, as does every other DoG which Winman refers to as 'lower than cockroaches'. Go ahead there GT, show your courage and feed the maniac.

Agreed. Similar mindset here.

And, I will add, the use of the work "coward" directed at us by another Calvinist or an Arminian is verbiage unbecoming a brother in Christ.

I suppose where I come from it is different. Sorry about that.

Because I see Calvies posting in the thread but not voting, I'm dissatisfied. I am really interested in seeing where many of you think on this.

While I get our hesitancy in answering difficult and lofty questions, we do this all the time (ex. God's grace!). This is the job of theology. Just b/c it is a sensitive subject does not mean we shy away. This is why I used the term "coward" but perhaps ambivalent is a word more to your liking. Or vacillation?

Maybe there aren't as many who self-identify as Calvinists or Reformed as everyone thinks? Just a thought ...

You might be correct. Due to much of the insults there are many NEW Forums popping up (and a few older ones) that are much more tailored to Monergistic theology....4 come immediately to mind, but curiously 3 of those 4 are a direct result of the disgust felt at being continuously attacked in this very forum. Nobody here is going to entertain Winmans flights of fancy at a poll directed to Calvinists.....actually its rather laughable that a Calvinist, knowing Winnies open position would do so.

I didn't realize so many of you felt this way... kinda wish I didn't start this thread at all. Sorry to my Calvie brethren.

Admin: not that you need my permission, but you certainly have my approval to close this one down.

My brothers EWF, kyredneck, Rippon and The Archangel nailed it.

People tire of the nonsense and the things that are overlooked here.

C'mon Calvinists. I expected at least the usual "appeal to mystery" when you can't answer the tough theological questions. But to say you're tired of answering these sorts of questions is dishonest because I can't remember a straight answer from many of you on this subject matter.

So what are you saying ITL? Be honest & quit beating around the bush & quit being such a weenie.Say what you are going to say bluntly & have at it. I am telling you & so are others that we/I .....oh.....how can we/I say this delicately ....see I was going to say something else, ya know about urinating on a fire.....but naaaa, might be interpreted the wrong way. So lets just say that we choose not to play.....so take your marbles & go home. Then ya can go play by yourself.

So, if someone else had posted this poll, all you Calvinists would have voted? Right.

Look, I don't care how you vote, the only reason I started this poll was because DHK said I misrepresented Calvinists. He claimed that I believed most Calvinists believe God sends babies to hell, when in fact that is the exact opposite of what I believe. I believe only a very few extreme hyper-Calvinists would believe God sends babies to hell.

My original point in another thread is that NOBODY (generally speaking) really believes in Original Sin.

Oh, folks will tell you they believe in Original Sin, they will call you a heretic if you say you do not believe in OS. But if you ask most Christians of ANY denomination, they will adamantly deny that God sends babies to hell.

And why do 95% or more of all Christians deny that babies who die go to hell?

BECAUSE PEOPLE DO NOT REALLY BELIEVE BABIES ARE SINNERS!

Oh, you will hear all sorts of silly arguments, people will say a baby cries like he is hungry when he wants to be picked up (how do you know what a baby is crying for?), that babies will fight with their siblings... But truth be told, almost nobody really believes that any baby has done anything worthy of being sent to hell for eternity. Folks simply cannot believe this, their heart and conscience revolts against it.

So, with their mouth they say they believe OS, but with their heart they do not believe it.

Now if you are still afraid to vote I have just one last thing to say.

BOO!

Are all babies elect? So if they die in infancy, they are going to Heaven?

Or are some babies elect? If they die in infancy they go to Heaven, but non-elect babies would go to Hell.

Which is it?

Usually when this question is asked Calvinists say, "it's a mystery, only God knows", which is a cop-out, IMO. But this time around, most of you are getting all indignant and offended at the question because it was asked by Winman, so instead I'm asking it.

Which is it?

It's not because Winman asked it...
It's because most simply don't want to answer it.

That it was asked by Winman simply makes for a convenient excuse.

Why is it a cop-out? What verse tells us clearly that babies go to heaven? There is none. So we cannot know.

If all babies go to heaven and then at some point in their life, they lose that ticket to heaven, is it not merciful to allow abortion and infanticide? Eternity is important to me as are my children. If I had to choose between them going to heaven or me having them live this life and go to hell, I'd rather they go to heaven. Just being honest.
