I understand that the KJB translators did not claim to be inspired, but that does not mean that God did not work through them. A example from Dr. Gipp's book "The Answer Book:"
When John the Baptist was accosted by the Levites in John chapter one and asked if he was Elijah (John 1:21) he answered that he was not Elijah. Yet in Matthew chapters 11:7-14 and 17:10-13 Jesus Christ plainly stated that John was Elijah.
Did John the Baptist lie? No. Did Jesus Christ lie? Of course not. The answer is very simply that John was Elijah but he didn't know it! Thus we see from our Bible example that a man can have God working through him and not know it. Likewise, God could easily have divinely directed the King James translators without their active knowledge.
Tells us VOLUMES about your mindset if you're quoting Dr. Gipp! His "answers" are simply a re-wording of the same old tired Onlyist party line that crashed & burned in the 1980s.
You cannot prove that the AV translators were inspired, nor that God hasn't worked through other translators. The AV translators AND the translators of other versions could have been equally influenced by God, or He could simply have left them on their own, knowing that each set of translators would do their best-or God could've done anything in between. In other words, your position is hopeless. You simply cannot prove it. If you insist upon holding onto a doctrine whose man-made origins are readily identifiable, and which has absolutely NO Scriptural support, don't be surprised if you find yourself on the outside looking in at the vast majority of Baptists.
Please don't take this as an ad-hominem attack. I don't question your faith whatsoever. I simply believe you've been tricked into falling for a false doctrine. This is no bad reflection on your part; I was once tricked into falling for a much-worse set of false doctrines-Armstrongism! Thank God, He woke me up to it by calling my attention to the fact that ole Herbie advocated Annihilationism and Universalism!
But, with all the evidence against Onlyism, while Onlyism has NO evidence FOR it, I find it hard to believe that any Baptist of normal intelligence would believe it. This thread shows nothing but more Onlyist statements that totally lack any PROOF.Same tired ole party line.
WHERE'S THE BEEF??????
