Has anyone looked up in the night sky recently?

There are two comets just about to be visible to the eye.
It's been cloudy for the past two days but early this morning it was only partly cloudy so I was out with my equipment. The clouds fully rolled in before was able to grab a picture.
I got a shot of Jupiter through the clouds. Totally amazed that Galileo was able to manufacture his own lens to view Jupiter and its moons.

Comet Lemmon - near Ursula Major (Big Dipper), perigee on Oct 21st and brightest at the end of the month - if you miss it will be back again in 1350 years.

Star chart showing the Big Dipper with its handle down and a mark to the right labeled for the comet, plus the star Cor Caroli.

The other comet is Comet Swan - not expected to be as bright as comet Lemon, perigee October 19th.

Happy viewing

Rob
