It's all in good fun! Besides, I could never really be that hard on someone who actually had to live in Texas. I don't wish that on my worst enemy.

Sorry Bro. Williams, I was thinking you had made a typo there, but a Google search showed me that your "juice harp" is what is known in the UK as a "Jew's harp", or "jaw harp".

All one in the same. One thing is for sure, I hope that this harp is different:
Revelation 14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:
    Could you imagine that racket?

My dad insists this verse is talking about women. He says we women are always up in the air harping about something.

Can't remember if I replied to this thread or not but, like John, I was a professional musician for a number of years and my main instruments are guitar, piano, and mandolin.

I picked up a banjo for the first time in forever the other night, when I sat in with a friend's band.

We did Will Kimbrough/Jimmy Buffett's "Piece of Work" and a Mummers' medley.

I can play a little steel, too, and lately I've been fooling around with it and trying to get my chops down enough to be able to take it out with a couple of local bands I sit in with every now and then.

I can do a little bit on fiddle, but not nearly enough to play out. I usually just play "Footsteps in the Snow" or "Old Pal of Yesterday" or something like that until somebody begs me to stop.

I grew up in a family of musicians, so I had to learn to play something just out of sheer self defense. My dad always had guitars and mandolins lying around and my mom was a piano player so we had the piano in the living room and an old upright piano in the basement.

My grandmother was a pianist and classically trained violinist and my grandfather played fiddle, so I learned a little from them.

I wish now that I'd taken the fiddle a little more seriously.
