I’m aging so I can say this and really mean it, “it’s better to give than to receive.”

But there’s that one thing that you got this year was special... what was it?

My wife and I haven’t purchased presents for each other for years, truly I have what I need.

But around Christmas we will grab Amazon boxes that were left for the other and wrap them up.

I buy books!!! Give me an Amazon book card and I’ll be happy.

This year Robert Alter finally finished his translation of the Hebrew Bible.

My special present was the 3-volume boxed edition. I’ve already begun reading-through-the-Bible-in-a-year.

Yamaha Rhino 700 w/snowplow & winch, for both my wife and me, from my wife and me, about six weeks early (before Christmas). The opportunity arose for a really good deal on it and we justified it as 'our Christmas present'.

My husband and I are also up in age and do not always give each other a gift at Christmas. But this year our computer was so messed up, hubby got me a new computer. But it is also for him as he likes to watch a movie or lesson to music on it. The old computer was so bad that when you watched a movie the lips would move but what they were saying was not with the movement of the lips. Along with alot of other issues. We can say thank you to windows 10 for messing up windows 7 when they put that into the updates. We now have a mac. And I am still learning. I did get my husband a sweater and a new jacket as he gets cold a lot easier than he used to. Blood thinners do that to you.

I got the usual nice things of clothes which I needed but one interesting thing.....a 365 day calendar cards with nice scenery on each one. Each day you pull one card out, put it in the back and then you have the next beautiful scenery for the next day.

I'll keep it at my desktop beside the monitor and being at the computer for an hour or so a day I'll always remember to change the card and be able to see nice different scenery while I type each day. :Cool

Mrs. Salty gave me several items of clothing.
Dont know why -
Its only been 10 years since I bought some clothes

We have a toaster - which you can toast 4 slices at once.
Right now, you can only do two - she said I broke it. (I plead the 5th)
So I bought her a toaster oven.

OH - I also got her a candy bar

Thanks to Amazon's "wish list", I knew to get my wife a new sweater and some special socks for her plantar fasciitis. She bought me several books with Biblical topics (e.g. eschatology, apologetics). I especially love old movies, so she got me the original series of the "My Friend Flicka" movies from the 40's.

We don't do Christmas, so I wasn't expecting anything and I wasn't disappointed.
I do buy my granchildren a mobile phone contract each year which covers all their presents for the year.

Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, all occasions of family get togethers, and I thank God for a family that loves one another, and loves to get together, and enjoys the time together. We just got home from my youngest SIL's birthday (Dec 27, can you believe that?) 'get together' at the local 'Mexican joint'. Between me, my wife, our two daughters, our two granddaughters, our two SILs birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas; that's TEN given 'get togethers' (with guests often) each year, not to mention Easter and 4th of July cookouts and other spontaneous adventures.

It ain't about the material things, it's about communing with family and friends.

Thank You LORD.

We get home tonight and the neighbors invite us up on the hill for a bonfire with other friends and neighbors, so we went and shared recent events/socialized for a while and enjoyed.

Thank you LORD.
