Socialism in Florida

Why is it Florida doesn't have a major movement which advocates democratic socialism or social democracy like Vermont does? It seems to me that our two major parties simply want to tweak the current system as opposed to making major changes.

What do y'all think? What would it take to turn the State of Florida into a socialist state?

To many Good-Ole'-Boys in the North and Pan-Handle...In the central part where I live, Too much of a combination of Both Good-Ole'-Boys and retirees (usually not socialists except that they would murder small infants to protect their S.S. checks) and too many Cubans in the South. There are plenty of liberals, but they are disperssed too widely amongst the sane population to organize too much.

Paul, before trying to change Florida into some sort of socialist state why don't you try living in Cuba for a few years and see if socialism is truly to your liking?

Hence, why the large Cuban Population in the South of Fla. WILL NOT allow the socialism to get too far out of hand. I used to work with a guy who escaped here on a raft early in the 1990's.... He was 19... He took off with 23 people on a raft not large enough for everyone to fit, so they had to take turns hanging on to the side of the raft in the water...unfortunately, only 19 survived. :tear: And boy does he LOVE his freedom!!

Since 2005, more people have moved out of Vermont each year than moved in. And in 2010, for the first time, the total incomes of those moving in was less than the incomes of those moving away....

A good start would be to remove the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST" from the seal; that way the libs have a free hand to shred everyone's liberties, and really get serious with "wealth redistribution"!:smilewinkgrin:

No one called Cuba "communistic." Someone implied the Castro dictatorship was "socialistic." Anyone think Sweden is a dictatorship because it is socialistic?

Sweden has its hands in the pockets and the pocketbooks of it's people. Go check out their homeschooling laws (I'll help, homeschooling is illegal in Sweden). And it only gets worse from there. The gov is supreme and the people can live with it or get out (without their children as Sweden believes it's decisions to be superior to those of mere peon parents and will remove children before allowing parents to remove them from the country).

We don't need Sweden's sort of socialist democracy in this country. And I agree, Cuba is communist.
