    John 13:2 presents a problem. Various English translations have the action before or at the beginning of the evening meal, during the meal, and after the meal. Now the KJV, and NKJV have afterwards (being ended) but the WEB and the NASB have "during." The MLV put during in italics, as if "genomenou" was not in the text.

    The Greek word in the form indicating "becoming" is in the CT and MT, and therefore "during" is an accurate translation. Whether it is the intended message is less clear. That answer probably can be found in other accounts of the same meal.
