Someone tell me...

In Portland, OR the city is calling it "The Tree" so one of the talk shows was going to rent a corner on the same block, put up a cross with a sign, the reason for the season.

Area churches were behind it and were going to support it.

There were so many threats of vandalism/destruction of the cross etc. that the station lawyers told them not to do it due to the liability issues as well as the possible personal injury issues.

 

Former VP Dan Quayle, speaking at the dedication of a new building for Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, California said...

"The only acceptable form of bigotry today is bigotry against fundamental christians."

 

I like Dan Quayle, even if he can't spell botater!

 

Here is the answer as to why the christians do not get a fair deal from the world when it comes to freedom of speech our rights etc....

If the world hate you ye know that it hated me before it hated you IF YE WERE OF THE WORLD THE WORLD WOULD LOVE HIS OWN: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, THEREFORE THE WORLD HATETH YOU. Jn. 15:18,19

This "world system" which we must sojourn through as believers will never be accepting of true followers of Christ. Jesus said: Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you.
Jn. 15:20.

If we as believers are looking for equity in politics or education or anythingelse in this "age" or "world" we can forget it. It is not going to happen. I don't care how many christian politicians we put in office or how many bills we pass to try and maintain our religious heritage etc... Christians are a thorn in the side of the "world" . We absolutely need to stand up for what is "Biblical" but if evangelicals believe for a split second that all this being relevant to the point of the church losing its own identity is going to bring favor from the mainstream press or Joe on the street why they are sorely mistaken.
I think today alot of preachers and churches are more concerned with being popular than they are in being forthright with the truth . Which is to say man is a "ungodly" "sinner" condemned to hell until the glorious light of the Gospel is shed abroad in their hearts by the preaching of the true , sometimes offensive Gospel message.
