It troubles my spirit, it causes a disruption in my soul. I can feel it as it's happening and I know something is wrong.

It's not in my mind, it's felt in spirit and soul.

Brother if you can't tell the difference within, I'm afraid you have drifted to far in the world.

Have you considered that not all people are you?

The Christian Praise music we are discuing...I feel it in my spirit and soul as well. But differenty.

You listened to "How Great is Our God" and that video of "Amazing Grace". To you it did not feel right. To me, I felt God. I do not mean just emotional but in my mind as well.

I think if you and I listened to the praise used in the Bible we would both dislike it. It would not feel right because it is not right to us (we would have to develop an ear for that music...it is not our culture).

My caution is in condemning the worship of other believers because it would not be right for us to worship in that way.

We are talking about different timing in music. That is all. Your claim is that changing the timing of a song will make an otherwise great song satanic (like with Amazing Grace).

I am sorry, but I cannot but view that as superstition. I do understand that some timing may sound wrong to you.

BUT your hymns would sound wrong to a Near Eastern ear.

We do not need (and should not) adopt a worship style that is not authentic to us. That would not be worshipping in truth.

But we should not condemn the authentic praise of other believers. We should not insist they adopt our worship styles.

I can tell a difference within.

I worship in spirit and truth with contemporary praise music. It is authentic to me.

Hymns (I do not mean the lyrics but the music) is difficult. It is, to me, empty and inauthentic.

That is not a criticism of hymnal music. I would feel the same with the Near Eastern music of the Bible.

The difference is me. Praise should be authentic.

I received the same Spirit that you received. There is no difference.

When the subject comes up I will condemn it as long as the Lord gives me breath.

The Spirit is the same, but we still have the "old self" with our cultural influences with us.

If you were speaking in the Spirit you would have simply said that you do not like the timing of that music, that you vould not worship in truth with that music, but that you praise God other believers do.

Same with me. I love reading hymns. But while we share the same Spirit I cannot worship with the traditiinal accompanying music. By the Spirit I praise God that you can.

I also prayed God that the Hispanic church praises God authentically with their music (although it is chaotic to my ears).

When you cross the line in condemning the praise of other believers then you know the spirit from which that arose was not God's.

I think we should continue worshiping the Lord the way we see fit. That is the American way, the foundation of our Constitution.

I'm sorry we can't agree on this, Jon. I think you know me well enough to know I meant no harm to you.

Oh...I know you meant no harm, and no harm done. I reply honestly and expect the same in return as I respect you.

If you believed exactly as me it would be boring. You would be right, but it would be boring. :Biggrin

You mention us having the same Spirit. We do, and that matters. Those Christians God told not to condemn other believers also had the same Spirit.

And those Christians who believe your worship to be satanic for using a piano share the same Spirit.

That is the important part. Be fully convinced in your mind. Know we are of the same Spirit. Do not condemn other believers.

One Wed. night service when we, the tight nit family of the Church were together, the pastor said there would be times when we may not agree, and I may step on some toes and it may sting, but remember we are One Body in the Lord, and we will get through it together.

We will get through it Brother Jon! There are so many things we do share in common.
