On Friday, the Democratic National Committee filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the Russian government, Donald Trump’s presidential campaign and WikiLeaks, claiming that they were involved in a massive conspiracy against Hillary Clinton.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in the Southern District of New York, claims that senior members of the Trump campaign conspired with the Russian government to damage Clinton and seeks financial damages for the alleged hacks of the DNC's servers.

“During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump’s campaign,” DNC chairman Tom Perez said.

The last time the Democratic Party sued like this, it was against Nixon for the Watergate break-in for $1 million.

They were successful. Nixon settled for $750,000.

It seems clear to me that Trump has done plenty of things wrong. It will all come out eventually, and we will see what is actually the truth. I may well be mistaken, but I don't think I am.

In any case, I think this lawsuit is designed to put pressure on the Administration and allow the Democrats to engage in legal discovery.

I don't have any idea if it will go anywhere. Personally, I don't care for the tactic.

Won't happen this time. Some pretty smart guys were running the democrat party then. It's run by hateful idiots now.

So? That doesn't mean that the lawsuit wasn't designed to raise funds for the DNC, maybe a matter of killing a bird with two stones.

This isn't Watergate, although the end objectives are the same. The Comey memos are going to kill the Mueller investigation but at least this keeps Russian collusion in the news - Tony Perez (big big mistake with that one) should hook up with David Hogg and campaign on these issues.

This isn't Watergate. In fact, the evidence is stronger that it was the Democrats who did all the colluding with the Russians after all it was Hillary and the DNC who paid for the false dossier that was used to get the Trump campaign spied upon by our own national security officials.

You may not be old enough to remember Watergate, but the same arguments were used then as now - that it was all a Democratic ploy. Then the truth eventually came out.

I haven't seen much evidence of that, but if there were Democrats colluding with the Russians to undermine our democratic processes, then let's prosecute them.

No, persons in the Trump campaign were being watched by national security long before the "dossier" turned up. Even the Nunes-edited memo released by the Republicans makes that clear if you actually read it. Carter Page was under a FISA warrant before the "dossier" turned up. Moreover, Manafort had been watched for a long time because of the sketchy stuff he was involved in.

Why does the DNC think they can do better?

Another several million dollars squandered on another colossal nothingburger lawsuit when the DNC has fallen way behind for midterm funding?

What are they thinking!?

Plus they have NO CREDIBLE rising stars for 2020!
