I have already stated that I agree with that. </font>
And yet, you don't seem to be able to apply this to the issue of abortion:

Is that the "moderate" part of being a conservative, or did you simply mis-speak? Don't you consider abortion to be murder?

I figure that lots of folks on this board will be sitting on their hands in the 2006 elections and most certainly the 2008 elections.

I believe that abortion is a perfectly relevant political issue to be discussed. Why would you not want to discuss a candidate's position on this issue? Do you have doubts about where she stands?

Personally, yes. Legally, I don't know that it has ever been the case in the United States or in an individual State.

I didn't say it wasn't but it doesn't need to be the focal point of every thread.

I am very comfortable with Secretary of State Rice's position as I have no problem with keeping the federal government out of the issue and leaving it to the States.

Abortion has never been considered murder under the federal constitution. I don't know if any State has ever declared it to be murder, but some States did ban the procedure prior to Roe v. Wade. </font>
I don't think slavery was considered illegal by the Constitution or any state until the 1860's. Certainly, you are not going to defend something simply because it is accepted by the majority of society or hasn't been declared illegal by the Constitution, are you?

    </font>
Would you have been comfortable with leaving slavery and segregation in the hands of the states as well? I think we would be living in a horrible society (even worse than the one we currently have), had we followed your advice back then.

I think slavery was banned by certain States prior to 1861.

I am by no means defending the act of aborting an unborn child.

But, you would certainly go no further to advocate for the civil rights of the unborn if Roe were overturned and the decision were left to the states, would you?

I have already stated that the federal government has the power to enforce constitutional rights.

We are going in a circle now and I have things to do. [IMG]

I imagine we will be discussing this more in the future.

Abortion is the issue of our age, ignore it at our peril. It's not just another political issue to God.

The next election will be same as the last, a globalist will be empowered to further erode our freedoms and sovereignty...Hillary most likely. Thank you George W. Bush for arming her to the teeth and making her husbands presidential records secret.

It was Rice who told us shortly after the 9/11 attacks that she and the rest of the national security never dreamed that al-Qaeda would ever fly airplanes into buildings. We learned later that the CIA had warned of this. She also said she was unaware that the CIA doubted that Saddam Hussein of Iraq had tried to buy enriched uranium from the African country Niger. The CIA had made its doubts more than obvious and had even gotten Bush to remove the claim from a speech. That was before he used it in his state of the Union address, although the claim was no more solid then.

I don't care if she is purple, blue , or pink she
is incompetent especially on national security
measures...she would be a danger to our country.

It took her two weeks to mention Iran/Iraq cooperation and it happened right underneath her
    nose and she said nothing...nada...zero.

Condolezza Rice was one of the best National Security Advisors in our nation's history and is now one of the best Secretaries of State that we have ever had.

    Ken,

What happened to Tom Tancredo? Isn't he a true conservative who actually wants to run for president in 08? Why are wasting your time with a moderate who doesn't even want to run?

He hasn't said he's running, either.

If none of my favorite candidates end up running it's going to be a long 2008 presidential season for me. Maybe I'll have to go and support Wesley Clark for president in 2008.
