So would you see that one can be gifted to have a tongue for themselves, but we do not have public ones used in worship anymore?
No. I am not derailing this thread about it. Start a thread and mention me, if you like, and we can discuss it.

What is meant by "limited inspiration"?
That would be the understanding that the theology of the scripture is fully trustworthy, but not the historical events, dates, times etc... God just intended to preserve to us without error just theology, rest can and does have errors in it is the belief!

I suspect it is similar to the slippery slope that you find in the position of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America that the Holy Scriptures 'contain' the word of God but are not infallible. We all have seen what happens to denominations that go this route. The PCUSA, Episcopal Church, United Church of Christ and United Methodist all have this same position. The American Baptist pastor in my town holds this position.

They would see parts of it being trustworthy, but most of it really not!

The ABC pastor in my town believes that most of the OT is mythical and questions the virgin birth and believes that 'resurrection is the spirit of Christ living in the lives of his followers'.

Sounds like he went to one of our "progressive" seminaries!

I remember the first time I heard someone call Moses a mythical folk tail in the Bible.

It all started off me discussing aliens with this person. They believe aliens are real but Moses was mythical... priceless

What about the entire "Jesus was an Alien" thought?

I personally have never discussed this with anyone. But hey in today’s world that wouldn’t surprise me.

Even worse, some of them have even gotten into the Church!

Man that’s an understatement... I recently joined a new church, they’re still standing firm for the traditional Baptist values and not conforming. The environment are conservative folks, we are a small but strong Church. I hope it remains that way
