Try going on a February, Saggy. Airline tickets are a little lower, or you can use priceline and dictate your price (so they say, anyway).

Don't have to be too expensive.

I recall your folks come from the North, well, try their hometown first, then go see the Rice Terraces, then Baguio.

    Hope you're able to go.

My disablilty is big. I was born with a horrible birth defect in my chest. I have a Non-operable herinated disk in my upper part on my neck. I have my right knee from an ice skating accident, I broke my knee cap in half. I walk witha cane all the time now. I am in my ealry 40s, and I have suffered from pain since birth.

The SSA is backwards with it's contracted doctors. All the while I am moneyless since from July 21st, 2003 last year. My disability is getting worse everyday.

So, I have too surf the internet of beautiful places on God's Earth. Plus, God gave me a wonderful Project I love too do, it called my newest web page YaY:

    "Kristi Ann's Haven"

This wonderful project God gave me keeps me busy building, dreaming, hoping, Loving, Helping, new friendships!

I Praise God Everyday for my life. Without God, I would me dead. Well, since I died in the operating table at my surgery in my chest. I have no fear of dying, I wish I was in Heaven now for my Haven.

I Love everyone on this Board. Someday, I'll be able to get outside and mobile again. God's timiming not mine. :D

    Love Always,

    Kristi Ann

Just said a prayer for you. Was at our annual Wyoming camp association meeting today - first contact with most pastors and delegates since my illness. I'm the outgoing President, so walked up to the front with a cane.

I was thrilled to be walking, but to them, they were horrified to see a normally robust preacher very frail.

So, "I feel your pain" dear lady!

Hiking the North face of Mt. Washington while "thru-hiking" the Appalachian Trail in 2002. With winds gusting steadily at more than 130 MPH coupled with rain and 33 degree temps... it was to dangerous traversing the A.T. above treeline between Mt. Madison and Washington.

That year, I was the only hiker who summited Mt. Washington "the hard way!" Four days later, my elderly hiking partner Pete Farley, died on the summit of hypothermia. Of course, it will always stand out to me personally...

Went down to Rathdowney yesterday as a day tripper. My oh my this is a beautiful country when the Good Lord sends us rain. The country was looking like a piece of paradise, the green green grass swaying in the breeze of a golden sunny day, the grass tops golden... the cows looking full content with the growing calves nearby.
The farm where we stopped at had glorious frangipanni trees, creamy white flowers with the sun trapped in their centres, an old retired farmer telling yarns from his working days [IMG] , whilst drinking tea out of enamel cups and chewing slabs of damper with syrup....
a glorious day in the country, a valley ringed by our little hillocks that Aussies call mountain ranges.

I think one of my favorite places was this great B&B in Wilson Wyoming (outside Jackson Hole) We wer sitting there at the Teton Tree House having breakfast, and a young Moose wanders into the back yard

A "hole" is a small basin nestled into the mountains. The city's name is Jackson, Wyoming and the region called Jackson Hole.

A "park" is a broad flat stretch between ridges of mountains. The city of Estes Park, Colorado, gets its name from the region in which it is located.

(BTW, anyone who has enjoyed a B&B in the Tetons, Yellowstone, Absaroka, Wind River, Big Horns or Uinta ranges of Wyoming knows what picture ought to be in the diction next to the words 'beauty' and 'serenity'.

I know that it is looked down upon to hold in high esteem places in the U.S., but can you bear with me for my simple joys? :)

Eureka, CA -- a tiny Victorian town on the ocean, surrounded by redwoods, with the peace of its smallness and the sweetness of gentle living.

    Antitam.

Patrick's Point, CA: exquisite composite of redwoods, ocean, sand, and the fragrances of them all, mixed to perfection.

The hills of both Pennsylvania and Virginia.

    Mammoth Caves.

    The Ozarks.

    The bridge over Lake Ponchartrain.

Parks near Denver, with the grandeur of the mountains and the coolness of rippling brooks.

Minneapolis, especially the wonderful parks and lakes there, Lake Nokomis taking priority.

    Northern Washington's rain forest.

    Duluth.

The swamps of Mississippi, with their mossy cypruses and the surrounding mansions with their white-washed trees.

The walkway up the Washington Monument.

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

American used-to-bes -- places that were fabulous when I was a child, that I would not waste my time in now:
    San Francisco
    New Orleans

Favorite Places in North America --

    Northern CA --
    * Eureka - I too loved this little town.
    * Napa Valley - I can drink the wine since I'm now a Presbyterian
    * Redwoods - inspiring
    * San Francisco - simply beautiful (it may be a mess now, but it's still stunning)

Washington, DC - especially during the Cherry Blossoms

Vancouver, BC - One of the cleanest, most beautiful, most livable cities. Stayed a week there last year.

Florida Keys - On one side is the Atlantic and the other is the Gulf. One of the best places to relax and unwind.

Alaska - Would go on a another Alaskan cruise in a heartbeat.

My "special" place would have to be the West Indies. I made so many friends there. Can't you just see me...sleeping in the dirt and volcanic ashes that got blown on us, but still happy just to be serving there. I still want to write the "story"--especially when the guys got left in Puerto Rico along with my luggage. I just have to find the words.

Where in the West Indies? I've been to a bunch of the islands - each one unique.

In no particular order, my top three "specials" are:

    The Texas "Hill Country"
The mountains of North Carolina(loosely defined by anywhere in NC west of interstate 77)
    The mountains of north Georgia

    Dr. Bob,
Nevis West Indies...Motseuratt (however you spell it) was the volcano that blew ash all over us. I had the joy to lead two of the kids in my Bible Study to Christ. I wish I knew how they were doing now. But, they don't have e-mail, and I can't find their addresses.

Most memorable place I have been to is usually the most recent place. Right now that is San Antonio - the Riverwalk - a great peoplewatching place. However the place I love being the most is my summer cottage near Pentwater, Michigan. Really nothing that special about it - certainly not as exotic or exciting as many places I've seen described on this thread. But I am so blessed to have this place to go - only a 2 hour drive from my home, but when I get there it may as well be halfway around the world. I love it. If I'm not doing the driving I am usually asleep about 5 minutes into the trip because I am so relaxed and so happy about going. We are a 10 minute bike ride away from Lake Michigan, and the best time of day there is sunset. Used to love watching the kids swim at that time of day...beautiful.
