Aaron....most of the churches up here are like that...its so sad.:tear:
Seems to me that it is similar to picketing funerals. Some things are just in poor taste.

I just leave them alone and focus on my own ministry. "How is God working in your life?" That is always my question. Just keep pointing to :jesus: !
:love2:
I tried to be gentle and kind but the man admits to being gay, says repentance is not necessary, sin is not real, the gospel is all social and ethical... So sad... I told him this is not a secondary issue but an attack on the essentials of the faith. He told me my gospel tracts were embarrassing and not right. I sent him tracts that hit on the gospel.
The progressives are worse than the charismatics!! So sad. Perhaps I should not call anymore churches but let them call me but continue to write letters.
I sent him a tract by a CAlvinist by John Piper and a tract by an aminian ministry and they both hit the basic gospel.
Does he hold that he is a sinner, and that Jesus died in His place, and that God raised him from the dead?
In other words he is not a pastor outside of his vocational choice. I'll join you in praying for this person.
I'm still trying to figure out what a "Progressive" is??!!!
This how I've got it figured: Back in the 1960's a young man either got drafted to go to Vietnam or found some way to get out of it.
Of the ones that dodged it some went to Canada. I don't know why they were determined to contaminate a perfectly good country but there they went.
Some were pretty smart and got a deferment by going to med school.
Another bunch weren't going to have The Establishment make them get a haircut and stop smoking dope, they weren't smart enough to get into med school, didn't like back bacon and hockey enough to go to Canada, lacked the sense of duty, honor and Country so they piled into their VW micro buses and went to seminary.
Once they got there they started to find the Bible was full of moral absolutes, the concept of Good and evil, the distinction between the Holy and profane.... Not cool, man. Being non-conformists they banged on the walls of our hallowed institutions demanding that God drop out, drink up and get groovy.
'Bird, I spent 13 years with those 1960 dropouts running the show in the Methodist church. They are still protesting whatever the current issues are buzzing (pun intended) around. They've replaced the Flower Power stickers on their VW's with Coexist stickers on their Priuses.
That is a progressive.
Are they still Pastors.....if so they all live in NY & NJ...."DUDE"
pastors, superintendents, bishops, seminary professors.... All steering the national dialogue into inclusiveness, diversity, open doors, open minds, open wallets....
Read the book the Way of the master
Sorry, I am too obsessed with the Bible.
2 Tim. 4:1-81I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: 2preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 3For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 5As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
6For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. 7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
2 Tim. 4:1-8
Real question here. Scripture seems to point to the work of the evangelist to be PREACHING the word.
Is sending letters and tracts PREACHING the word? Is sending letters and tracts the work of an evangelist or just another something that any Christian can use?
I applaud evangelist for his tenacity in sharing the Gospel. I'm just wondering if from the perspective of evangelism if it's not supposed to be a going to them and preaching the word event and not a letter or tract?
