Now you are being a fruit inspector, now you’re judging. Everyone sins including you and I. Just recognize that fact.

What does Christ tell you to do? Is he not the one you should be patterning your life after.

Speaking as someone who has lived some and in the winter of life, I believe that to be a wise choice.

I've been there. It gets tiresome very quickly.

I was making an observation to JonC about where his reasoning would lead, if applied to Donald Trump.

You are preaching to the choir ;). As a Primitive Baptist I believe that Jesus Christ finished the work of eternal salvation on the cross apart from any action or work of man, and we are saved to heaven by Jesus Christ’s blood and by God’s sovereign grace alone. We worship in a simple manner in accordance with the New Testament scriptures. You won’t see praise bands, Sunday schools, pastors with seminary degrees… in fact most pastors have secular day jobs. You might want to visit a PB church if you live in the South ( where they are predominately located.) :Biggrin

For years I have found the idea of voting to be vexing. Maybe I remain involve just out of momentum from having gotten interesting in politics in 1964 when I was just a kid.

There is no voting in the Bible. When the 11 apostles chose a replacement for Judas Iscariot, they prayed and cast lots. Hmmm....Maybe that is what we should do in the United States to choose public officials, such as the president, members of Congress, etc. - pray and then cast lots.

Yep. Obviously I would not vote for Trump.

But I believe the support we give is to what each candidate says they will do.

Patrick Henry made similar warnings in making his case against the adoption of the current U.S. Constitution. Some excerpts from a speech he gave on June 5, 1788:

"Besides the expences of maintaining the Senate and other House in as much splendor as they please, there is to be a great and mighty President, with very extensive powers; the powers of a King: He is to be supported in extravagant magnificence: So that the whole of our property may be taken by this American Government, by laying what taxes they please, giving themselves what salaries they please, and suspending our laws at their pleasure: I might be thought too inquisitive, but I believe I should take up but very little of your time in enumerating the little power that is left to the Government of Virginia; for this power is reduced to little or nothing: Their garrisons, magazines, arsenals, and forts, which will be situated in the strongest places within the States: Their ten miles square, with all the fine ornaments of human life, added to their powers, and taken from the States, will reduce the power of the latter to nothing.
    ...
Among other deformities, it has an awful squinting; it squints towards monarchy: And does not this raise indignation in the breast of every American? Your President may easily become King: Your Senate is so imperfectly constructed that your dearest rights may be sacrificed by what may be a small minority; and a very small minority may continue forever unchangeably this Government, although horridly defective: Where are your checks in this Government? Your strong holds will be in the hands of your enemies: It is on a supposition that our American Governors shall be honest, that all the good qualities of this Government are founded: But its defective, and imperfect construction, puts it in their power to perpetrate the worst of mischiefs, should they be bad men: And, Sir, would not all the world, from the Eastern to the Western hemisphere, blame our distracted folly in resting our rights upon the contingency of our rulers being good or bad.
    ...
But the President, in the field, at the head of his army, can prescribe the terms on which he shall reign master, so far that it will puzzle any American ever to get his neck from under the galling yoke. I cannot with patience, think of this idea. If ever he violates the laws, one of two things will happen: He shall come at the head of his army to carry every thing before him; or, he will give bail, or do what Mr. Chief Justice will order him. If he be guilty, will not the recollection of his crimes teach him to make one bold push for the American throne? Will not the immense difference between being master of every thing, and being ignominiously tried and punished, powerfully excite him to make this bold push? But, Sir, where is the existing force to punish him? Can he not at the head of his army beat down every opposition? Away with your President, we shall have a King: The army will salute him Monarch; your militia will leave you and assist in making him King, and fight against you: And what have you to oppose this force? What will then become of you and your rights? Will not absolute despotism ensue?"

    I'm not sure.

Biden did more for veterans, but I have not personally used the VA in such a way that it benefitted me.

The economy was better under Trump, so I paid less for stuff, but I make more now (not because of Biden but because of career progression).

For me....not much difference either way.
