State of the Union Address - Yawn?

:laugh: Hubby and I rolled at the tax increase/IRS comment! Unpopular as I may be, I regret that Bush is leaving office after this year. Go ahead and throw your stones now :tonofbricks: , but people are going to realize in about two years just how much Bush did for this country. If a Democrat gets into office, there are going to be a whole lot of people feeling a sight more than regret that Bush is gone...

There are no stones to throw. There have been things Bush has done that were very disappointing, at times acting exactly like a Democrat. I voted for him twice. Compared to the present crop of candidates, he is not so bad.youngmom4 said:
What is really sad is that this year, some of the Republican candidates are as bad as the Democrats (ie Romney, Giuliani), and the rest are average.
There are no Roosevelts, Kennedys, or Reagans in the race. Even is one disagrees with Bush, the time for criticizing him has past.

Now this laughable economic stimulus will be the capstone on quite a Presidential tenure. It will undoubtedly be remembered for precisely what it was.

You've got a president up there with an approval rating of 25%, speaking to a bunch of lawmakers with an approval rating of 15%. Every two sentences, the Republicans applaud. Every six sentences, everybody applauds. And 2-3 times per address, the Dems applaud, and the Repubs shut up (that's the proverbial "throw me a bone here" that all presidents do).
It's so phony. I wish they'd all shut up.
Not to mention, the speech would be 6 minutes if they'd all sit on their hands and quit acting like a doggone Jerry Springer audience.

I completely agree. The only candidate I come remotely close to liking is Huckabee; I think I could even vote for Paul if he was really in the running. Unfortunately, neither of those are likely to be around in November. So, I don't know what we'll do when election day rolls around.
