State-Owned Churches Are Killing America

Baloney.
 • An incorporated church is in no way sponsored by the government.
 • The state does not in any way run an incorporated church.
 • An incorporated church surrenders nothing to the state.
 • Legal recognition does not in anyway alter the establishment of the church by Jesus Christ.

The state will not allow John 14:6? Baloney.
The state has no say over church practice. The state does not have any say over Doctrine. The state has no power to alter the declaration of Jesus Christ.

God is sovereign. Churches are autonomous - even incorporated ones.
Where's there a "like" button when you need it?

Oh, there's one ...

So, no examples and $200 still sits on the table. The church has plenty if problems, it's made up of fallen humans after all, but the empty rhetoric in the OP isn't one of them.

True. When the government begins taxing people to support a particular church or denomination, then we can talk about this topic.

3) to show that Jesus, during His entire ministry on earth, including the time right before He was going to be crucified, never made any preparations for the setting up of an “Organized Church.” In fact, everything He did and said indicated that He did not want an “Organized Church” in any shape or form.

Didn't want a disorganized one either...

Let all things be done decently and in order.

The unholy alliance between Christ's church and the Republican party is destroying the potential for reaching the unchurched generation in America. Most young people today are drawn to Christ but reject the hypocrisy they see in the church.

The Vatican is a sovereign state with a church at the head. There is plenty of evidence that the Vatican ruled the world until the Reformation. Luther had a state religion in Germany. Calvin had a state religion in Geneva. Brigham Young had a state religion in Utah. These folks firmly believed they were divinely guided.

Freedom of conscience, closely related to freedom of religion, is pretty much a Baptist belief. Baptists have never sought, in fact they have refused, state support in any shape, form or fashion.

Many say our country was founded on Christian principles. Many of our founding fathers were not followers of Jesus the Christ. Many were deists, agnostics, and masons. George Washington was a mason. He seems to refer to GAOTU but not to Jesus or Jehovah. GAOTU is not Jehovah.

Religious freedom and separation of church and state were hotly debated early in U.S. history. We are still not sure what freedom of religion might mean.

Beware the the leaven of the clerics, bureaucrats and freemasons.

Preach John 14:6 in downtown U.S.A. Someone will probably swear out a complaint and have you arrested for violating their rights. The apostles got stoned for preaching Jesus Christ and Him crucified. The Gospel prospers only under persecution. We know not what persecution might mean.

Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Young people would be surprised you think they are "rejecting" anything regarding the church.

Parents and leaders have long been concerned about the faith development of the generation born between 1984 and 2002—and for good reason. First, Barna research shows nearly six in ten (59%) of these young people who grow up in Christian churches end up walking away from either their faith or from the institutional church at some point in their first decade of adult life. Second, the unchurched segment among Millennials has increased in the last decade, from 44% to 52%, mirroring a larger cultural trend away from churchgoing among the nation’s population.

Third, when asked what has helped their faith grow, “church” does not make even the top 10 factors. Instead, the most common drivers of spiritual growth, as identified by Millennials themselves, are prayer, family and friends, the Bible, having children, and their relationship with Jesus.

Still, not all is doom and gloom when it comes to faith among Millennials. In contrast to the widespread religious disillusionment marked among so many of their peers, millions of Christian Millennials remain deeply committed and active in their faith.

About one-quarter of 18- to 29-year-olds are practicing Christians, meaning they attend church at least once a month and strongly affirm that their religious faith is very important in their life. A majority of Millennials claim to pray each week, one-quarter say they’ve read the Bible or attended a religious small group this week, and one in seven have volunteered at a church in the past seven days.
This number is really appreciably no different than the numbers of past generations who have "walked away" from the church. In fact, there was huge concern in the 19th century that the youth of the day were "leaving the church in droves," and that "in fifty years" (i.e., 1915) there wouldn't be a church in America.

Hm. Guess they were wrong.

Read the whole article and get the whole story. And by the way, I'm really getting sick and tired of your liberal/socialist ilk deliberately posting stuff that isn't true in an unmitigated effort of subterfuge designed to advance your agenda. This is what is wrong with the liberal/socialist movement and why it is on the verge of complete collapse and utter failure. Like the emperor, it has no clothes.

Oh you must mean like liberals like yourself and the Democrat party that supports abortionists like Obama. Talk about an unholy alliance.

Read the book "UnChristian" written by David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons. Kinnaman is the president and majority owner of the Barna Group. I have no idea where you got your information but wouldn't you say that the president and majority owner of the Barna Group is a better than anything that is second hand?

This book says:

Christianity has an image problem. Christians are supposed to represent Christ to the world. But according to the latest report card, something has gone terribly wrong. Using descriptions like "hypocritical"; "insensitive"; and "judgmental", young Americans share an impression of Christians that's nothing short of . . . unChristian.

Groundbreaking research into the perceptions of people aged 16-29 reveals that Christians have taken several giant steps backward in one of their most important assignments. The surprising details of the study, commissioned by the Fermi Project and conducted by The Barna Group, are presented with uncompromising honesty in unChristian. Find out why these negative perceptions exist, learn how to reverse them in a Christlike manner, and discover practical examples of how Christians can positively contribute to culture.

Another review of this book:

and a quote:

"We consistently find that the vast majority of teenagers nationwide will spend a significant amount of their teen years participating in a Christian congregation. Most teenagers enter adulthood considering themselves to be Christians and saying they have made a personal commitment to Christ. But within a decade most of these young people will have left the church and will have placed emotional connection to Christianity on the shelf. For most of them, their faith was merely skin deep. This leads to the sobering finding that the vast majority of outsiders in this country, particularly among young generations, are actually de-churched individuals."

I am pleased that you talk about Christ's Church in association the Republican party. It is certain that the unholy alliance of the reactionary-democrat party with the "liberal" churches for the last half century was not with Christ's Church.

No, I'm talking about hypocrites, Jesus' worst enemies.

OH you mean the hypocrites that say that unborn children can be slaughtered in the womb.

Or the hypocrites that say you can keep your health care but then never intended on allowing that.

Or the political hypocrites that impose this nasty socialist health care on everyone else except themselves.

Or you mean the hypocrites to demand that everyone go to public schools that they themselves will not send their own kids to.

Those hypocrites.

I'm talking about the hypocrisy of the Republican party. They talk a lot about abortion in order to keep your vote but never seem to get around to doing anything about it. I, too, am against most abortions. Of curse you understand that it was a Republican Supreme Court that ruled on Roe vs. Wade, correct? The court consisted of 7 Republicans and 5 democrats. The Chief Justice was a Republican as was the justice that wrote the majority opinion. So, it was the Republican party that gave us legal abortion. The vote was 7-2 in favor of abortion with one Republican and one Democrat voting against.

There have been periods since then when the Republicans held the presidency and both houses of Congress notably under George W. Bush. What did they do to reverse their abortion law? The law could have been changed by a vote of the state houses. When was this attempted? The answer to both questions is never. The Republican does not want to reverse R v W. That could mean losing the Christian right. It's simply a matter of politics (and hypocrisy).

This is a myth that has been debunked long ago. In fact I have posted a great many threads documenting the laws that have been created by the Republicans in state by state that has shut down abortion clinic after abortion clinic.

You need to get your facts straight before you spread DNC talking points. Educated people know better. The DNC is relying on folks like yourself to be both misled and willing to repeat their lies.

I would say that politicized churches are killing the Church.

And then said:

The unholy alliance between Christ's church and the Republican party is destroying the potential for reaching the unchurched generation in America. Most young people today are drawn to Christ but reject the hypocrisy they see in the church.

And then offered this as proof of the assertions:

Read the book "UnChristian" written by David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons.
This book says:

NOWHERE in the offered proof do I see any reference to politicized churches or unholy alliances between the church and the Republican party causing young people to leave the church.

No myth. Just an observation. if the Republican party has done so much to reverse their abortion law then you are happy with the result. Correct?
