The theology is, of course, relevant for today. How could it possibly not be relevant? That would infer that Owens was teaching heresy, which he was not doing.

Even if such is true. Such a statement does no tell anyone why or how or anything. So making such an argument cannot be relevant.

Guess God set a defined time limit on how long the wisdom that He gifted certain men with can be applied then?

That is the argument liberals make in regards to biblical doctrines. Usually, it is followed by the fact that God spoke to them or gave them a feeling that that specific doctrine had a time limit/is no longer applicable, or Paul was wrong - usually the latter.
