It's never been about the economy. It was always about control.

"We are telling the federal government that we are a sovereign state and want to be treated as such. We are not a branch of the federal government," said Arizona state Rep. Judy Burges, who is leading an effort in her state to pass a resolution called "Sovereignty: the 10th Amendment." Ms. Burges was inspired to action by a pair of Bush administration initiatives: The No Child Left Behind education law of 2002 and the Real ID Act, a 2005 law that established national standards for state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards.

AMEN, AMEN, AND AMEN!!!!

The socialists are doing their best to get their tentacles into every little minute area of our everyday life for that exact reason --- CONTROL!!!

And the real pity is that so many cannot see past the economy and/or their political
pettiness to the impending doom; if we don't change course pronto.

I agree education is a function of state government.

However, since it concerns national security, the real ID Act is a necessary function of the federal government.

Some states are run by morons who would jeopardize our security for the sake of being politically correct.

Say this passes in some state legislature and is signed off by the governor. Then what? I suspect it will be ignored by the federal govt. Then what? The Nevada National Guard invades Area 51? Something like that? We fight Lincoln's War over again? Petition the UN for peace keepers?

More like Pinocchio with all the fear mongering lies coming from the right. Control, socialism, government run, etc... It seems we can't have a conversation without one of those words coming up.

Call it "fear mongering" if you like LB, but many of us call it "reading the signs of the times"!

By the time it is provedto be true, it'll be far too late to make any adjustments to derail the end result.

You call us "fear mongering", we call y'all "ostriches"!

Time will vindicate one of us; and while I really doubt it, I sure do hope it's you!

Does that mean you're calling Aaron a liar?

Or am I a liar when I point out problems with the stimulus bill? Such as...

A $2 million neon sign project for Las Vegas.
A $4.5 million "eco-park" in Florida for butterflies and tortoises.
A $500,000 park for dogs to run leash-less in California.

(WSJSOURCE)

Wow, have you ever gotten mean-spirited and ugly with your accusations in the last couple of weeks...

Kind of like what happened during the last 8 years... The GOP (the ostriches) stood when their head in the sand calling the economy "sound" while average everyday American's were loosing their homes, jobs, dignity and everything they owned. They didn't pull their heads out and notice things were not going well until Wallstreet crashed. They could careless when the crash was on mainstreet.

I am glad to see a leader who cares about the masses on mainstreet and is doing what he can for them. Is his plan perfect, no? Is any government plan perfect, no?

Both... You won't find "neon signs", butterflies or dog parks mentioned anywhere in the bill. Just more GOP twisting of facts being sad sacks.

Also, when you add all those up they come to 7 million dollars which is less than 1% of the plan. Why don't you talk about the god the 99% will do instead of focusing on what less than 1% MIGHT do?

Come on...logic is your friend.

You've made the claim that there's not any pork here. I very quickly, with little effort, showed you millions of dollars.

Out of a thousand pages, are you telling me there's just what I showed you? Nothing else? And billions wasted is no big deal?

Perhaps you'd like to be informed before arguing a point such as you did.

I'm disgusted this garbage called a stimulus is being shoved down our throats! I have not meant one American who is supportive of this disastrous move.

It is about control.

:applause:
Louisiana Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal is sticking to his position of rejecting part of the federal stimulus money for his state, saying Sunday that accepting an increase in unemployment benefits will lead to higher taxes on businesses in his state.

Mississippi Republican Gov. Haley Barbour, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin say they may follow suit. They say the money to be disbursed to the states in the $787 billion spending and tax cuts package comes with too many strings attached.

"It would be like spending a dollar to get a dime," Jindal said on NBC's "Meet the Press. "The federal stimulus bill says it has to be a permanent change in state law if you take this money, so within three years, the federal money is gone, we've got now a permanent change in our laws."
"It sounds like the Soviet grain quotas of Stalin's time -- X number of jobs will be created because Washington says so. And that's not the way that jobs get created," he said.

LeBuick, doesn't get old to simply tow the Party line though it flies in the face of rational thought?

You didn't show me where any of that was in the bill, you only made allegations they are in the bill. I will repeat, "You won't find "neon signs", butterflies or dog parks mentioned anywhere in the bill." You guys are taking a dollar being sent to an area of the nation then predicting what they will do with it. There is nothing factual about allegations like this.

I know how you feel, I felt the same way during the last administration when corporations kept getting more tax cuts while they laid more people off and sent tons of jobs overseas. I guess we each get our turn being disgusted...

I haven't seen rational thought from the conservatives, just allegations with no proof. Each time I have seen a conservative attempt to be specific it is easy to prove they are not being factual. If you can make a rational thought and remain 100% factual I would be glad to entertain your statement but as it stands, all I see it fear mongering and twisting of facts.

Secondly, I am not a Democrat so I am not towing a party line. I am a moderate who have voted both Republican and Democrat depending on who I feel has the right message for the times. Currently I am siding with the Democrats because they are trying to do "SOMETHING" about our current economic situation as opposed to the Republican's who only throw rocks at those trying to help while not making any valid alternatives. The only alternatives they have made is more tax cuts which all be the far right have already ruled out as a viable solution. That is why we didn't vote them in. If we felt more tax cuts were the answer, I would have gave McCain my vote...

This has been debunked 10 time over.

Show me once... I saw people trying to defend this truth but I haven't seen any successfully defend this point. I March, April and May when American's were struggling and being put out of their homes Bush was saying the economy was sound. He didn't throw up a flag until the problem got to Wallstreet and his only help was for Wallstreet.
