Good move by school administration. Her mother should put her over her knee instead of enabling her.

A couple of things to keep in mind - FERPA prevent the administrators, teachers, and board members from saying anything.

What you are hearing is what a teenager and her mother wants you to hear.

What did the bible say about doing something the government asks like carrying a pack for a few miles?

How do you think this should be interpreted when asked by the government to take an English test?

I can understand if the test were forcing someone to do something against God - like evolution, or Islam, sex-education, or for some people even saying the pledge . . . but an English test?

I think it is more important to fight our battles for the best causes and not for poor causes.

Legally you can opt out. I don't want my kids taking them either.

AND - if the student is absent the school looses state aid.

Yes, I know - by suspending - they loose the aid - thus why many schools have in-school suspension.

There should never be a test a student can opt out of without a parents written consent.

That being said, a test that a student can opt out of is worse than useless.

I'm not familiar with every state's law concerning school tests. Federal law does not allow you to opt out. Texas State law - where I am from - specifically prohibits parents from opting their children out of state-mandated tests. I know schools in my area will file truancy charges against parents who keep children home during state tests.

Now, I'm not familiar with every other state of the union, nor with territories like Puerto Rico, but I'm pretty sure you're on shaky, sinking sand with your first statement.

Since this is a Baptist and not a political forum, can you give a biblical reason why you don't want your children to take an English test?

I don't think kids here who opt out are counted absent. We've only have a few.
