Why, so I can be powerless like you? I need exactly what you need for evangelism, the power of the almighty God. As for Calvinism, I was arguing about it with Calvinists not only before you were born, but many decades ago, before you were even a mote in your mother's thoughts. Don't you lecture me on Calvinism young man. In fact, I'm sure I read Sproul before you were born.

Impossible. That book was published in 1986.

It's not easy making disciples on the streets where you see someone once and then never again. Probably easier in a rescue mission type ministry but I am called to the streets. Besides I have no contact in rescue missions and my church does not involve itself there.

Do you sit and talk with them? Do you give them a way to contact you and suggest you guys get some coffee so you can talk more?

Yes to both. I did however disciple this one guy and we chatted on the phone and over email. But he was very offended by John Piper as he was a progressive Christian and ended the chats. I said it was not what Piper said in the book but what the Bible said but the progressive did NT want to hear it.

He didn't say he read Chosen by God before you were born. He said "In fact, I'm sure I read Sproul before you were born."

The Symbol: An Exposition of the Apostles' Creed, was published in 1973. 4 years before you were born.

Burk Parsons (from Ligonier - working with RC Sproul) says it well (bolding mine):

"When I teach on the Great Commission, I often begin by asking my students, “What is Jesus’ primary emphasis in the Great Commission?” Typically, most students reply, “evangelism.” I then ask them to read the Great Commission from Matthew 28:18–20, after which I ask my question a second time. The students quickly see that although the Great Commission includes a call to evangelism, it doesn’t actually contain the word evangelism. What the students observe through more careful study of the Great Commission is that Jesus’ primary emphasis is on making disciples.

Making disciples certainly includes evangelism but is by no means limited to evangelism. The sort of disciple-making to which Jesus commissions the church involves much more, including baptizing and teaching. Simply put, if we have only evangelized a people or a nation, we have not been obedient to the fullness of the Great Commission. In addition to evangelism, Jesus provided us with specific instructions that we are to baptize “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,” and that we are to teach people “to observe all that I have commanded you.”

I do not disagree with the above.

It would be nice but I am content with simple obedience.

I do not disagree with the above.

But the above said "Simply put, if we have only evangelized a people or a nation, we have not been obedient to the fullness of the Great Commission."

You say you are content with simple obedience and then agree with the statement that if we have only evangelized a people then we have NOT been obedient. Which is it?

Mark 16:15 is my commission.

How do you reconcile Mark and Matt? A old pastor said the following. Both evangelists and disciple makers are needed but both are different gifts and not everyone is good at the other.

I am not the best disciple maker so I am more of an evangelist.

I had promised myself that I wouldn't answer Evan's foolishness anymore, but I couldn't let this one slide. When I was fresh out of high school, I attended one of the most IFB of IFB colleges. Most jere would probably recognize it, which is why I'm not open about it. I want to distance myself from it.

But, even though I was a music major (before changing colleges and switching to theology) I went out street preaching with the preacher boys.

I was only at that college one semester (roughly 18 weeks), and while out street preaching I had the opportunity to lead 4 people to Christ (plus a few while out during soul winning). Now, were they lasting fruit? At least two were. The others maybe. I handed them off to the bus captain that ran a route on their area.

My point is, it's not hard. Using the very same mode (but I daresay a much different delivery) I was able to see people saved.

As a second example, at school last semester, I saw a man standing on a bench reading the Bible. I asked him about himself, and it turns out he was WOTM. He's out there every Wednesday. I check in on him from time to time. When I asked him, it turns out he actually sees a couple people saved every year. On a public college campus, arguably the most God resistant place in America.

Ray and Kirk do say that if you do not see anyone saved you will reap rewards in heaven for faithfulness.
