Islamaphobia gone wild. What is this country becoming? Why so fearful? Shame!

A police spokesman told the Dallas Morning News that they didn’t believe Ahmed was building the clock out of pure curiosity. “We have no information that he claimed it was a bomb,” he said. “He kept maintaining it was a clock, but there was no broader explanation.”

When asked what other explanation “It could reasonably be mistaken as a device if left in a bathroom or under a car. The concern was, what was this thing built for? Do we take him into custody?”

The case comes against the background of accusations of Islamaphobia in Irving, where the town’s mayor, Beth Van Duyne, became something of a national celebrity after she accused Islamic leaders of “bypassing American courts” by offering voluntary Shariah-law mediation to worshippers. The Council on American-Islamic Relations has said Ahmed’s case “raises a red flag for us: how Irving’s government entities are operating in the current climate … We’re still investigating, but it seems pretty egregious.”

So we should be fearful of the myth of man made climate change, which is in doubt and many of the claims have proven to be dishonestly false,to the point that it decreases everyone's standard of living,

but

We should not be fearful of an extremist religion that has proven to slaughter people, put women into such low standards of living that are not allowed to show their face, drive cars, or receive and education and if they do the wrong thing can be murdered by their own parents, which has also blown up NY city and made attempt after attempt to kill Americans.

Someone want to clear this apparent idiocy up for me.

Completely Islamaphobic I see. Irrational, but full of fear.

It is typical that many folk dwell on what is of little danger while ignoring what is much more dangerous ... like drunk drivers, texting drivers, etc. Hundreds if not thousands of Americans are killed or harmed by these folk, but you never speak out about those problems. Just fear of Muslims if your sermon.

What is irrational is I gave a reasoned explanation and legitimate comparison but all you had was an adhominem in response.

Dry run?

Terrorists have been know to test the systems.

Also, isn't it the responsibility of schools to protect the students?

One day a clock bomb will go off in a school and the same complainers will want to know why the school didn't do anything to stop it.

CTB, I know that you believe yourself to be enlightened and you believe us to be Neanderthals - every.single.post.you.make.displays. that.

You seem to be always be wanting to "teach" us something - we being the ones you covertly and seemingly deem as having low IQs and low social skills and who aren't genuine in the faith. Please don't deny any of this because as I said in the first sentence, it's oozing out of every post you make.

Just a few things:

[1] I am now retired as of this school year, but long before 9/11 and yes, up until today, teachers are trained by the local law enforcement to NOT give the benefit of the doubt to an unusual object or suspicious person that there seems to be no reason for it or they being at school or even one that you just aren't sure of. If this teacher had been me and the boy had been a lily-white red-headed Howdy Doody type, I would have still told my principal that there was something I needed to report that was in my classroom or on campus.

[2] I really had to roll my eyes at the way that this site you quoted described the town mayor, Beth Van Duyne. Your article portrayed her as the bad guy - intolerant of Sharia law "mediation". Are you aware of how unjust Sharia law mediation is and how in opposition to American law it is? Is ridiculous. It involves flogging, beating, sexist marriage laws, sexist inheritance laws, sexist divorce laws, and more.

She doesn't want anyone in her town practicing religious laws of oppression like that. Inheritance laws in America should be followed as each state deems them - Sharia law should not override that. Divorce laws should be followed as each state writes them - Sharia law should not override that.

Yet, here is this mayor - wanting to preserve American law - federal, state, and local and SHE is the bad guy here. Wow! That's really enlightenment.

There something about enlightenment, CTB. Enlightenment that promotes and teaches "tolerance" without teaching rational thinking, logic, and intellectual discipline - then that type of "tolerance" is dangerous and in all honestly, only exists to promote one side of the coin. It isn't really tolerant at all.

The good becomes evil and the evil becomes good. That's what happens when reason, clarity of thought, and discipline are left out of enlightenment.

This mayor of Irving is not Islamophobic. This school isn't either.

Neither are us cave people here at the BB.

I wish you were tolerant enough of us to see that.

You are giving him too much credit. The reason for this position is not out of kindness or concern for our fellow man. It is born out of a political position to bring America down by overrunning it with all sorts of mayhem. America is seen by folks like crabby as being the cause of much evil in the world due to its primary economics which is capitalism. It power and great wealth are seen as selfish and our wealth needs to be released from our possession to redistribute it to the world. Others have less because we have more.

The accusations of fear and intolerance are part of Saul Alinsky's rules for radicals:

RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions. (Pretty crude, rude and mean, huh? They want to create anger and fear.)

RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

I agree with the gist of your post Scarlett, but like the Rev, I think you are giving too much credence to the motive of Crabby's posts.

Example: Rs want to cut/transform/streamline welfare, ergo Rs (his words )"HATE THE POOR "!

I can't know his mind, but from what I've seen him post he's far more interested in creating antagonism & strife than in discussion.

I'm really amazed how the mods have let him throw his rhetoric around for so long w/o tempering his vile rhetoric!

I'll tell you, Boy-- I don't see you speaking out about the ills you mentioned, either. Have you been keeping it a secret that you have roadaphobia, communicaphobia, and ethanolaphobia? You FEAR these things, don't you? "Hundreds if not thousands" are killed or harmed by these. How many were killed and harmed at the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, the Boston Marathon, and those incidents in the London subway and that field in Norway. If "hundreds if not thousands" mean the kind of caution is in order that you indicate, had you rather lock somebody up for glancing at their phone while driving or for possible sabotage? Airport security has incoming passengers take their shoes off (among more invasive procedures) for that reason. As for suspecting any muslims, I'm sure the families of those killed at Fort Hood wished somebody had.

If Muslims don't like the scrutiny and criticism they deserve, then perhaps they should take that up with the Muslims who draw scrutiny and criticism on Islam.

If Islam is such a "religion of peace", then why aren't the "peaceful" Muslims doing something about the ones who aren't?

Why don't the alleged "good" Muslims ever react to other Muslims with the same fake outrage with which they react to non-Muslims who dare to point out the various issues with their religion, their god, or his child raping prophet?

While valid points, none of them have anything to do with the case in hand.

What trolling? I agreed with your main points. I simply disagree with the application of them to the case at hand.

I believe the concerns of the authorities are valid. But, in this case, they overreacted. The young man was known to the school staff. The English teacher had a valid concern. But, the police could easily see there were no explosives attached to the clock.

Deal with the evidence at hand. Your same thinking caused the imprisonment of Americans of Japanese origin during WW2.

So sad when even the moderators engage in trolling.
