As I said in my other reply another very similar thing is legalizing marijuana nationwide.
Marijuana is not being legalized nationwide. It's still a federal offense to possess it and sell it. Legalization of weed is a states' issue.

Senior moment. Yes it's a case. Actually, I don't have a problem with legalizing gambling as long as it's properly regulated. (Everybody knows the mafia runs Vegas, right?) There has been a lot of illegal gambling going on and if legalized it can be controlled. This will probably put a lot of illegal bookies out of business and that's good.

I used the example of abortion and that's probably not the best thing to compare this to. I think the best comparison is with legalizing marijuana. I just found it odd that conservative members of the court are lauded for supporting what most evangelical Christians used to consider a vice.
I don't believe the court did anything to prevent a future law against sports betting (though I seriously doubt that would ever come into place). It just revoked a sloppily written law.

Maybe prostitution is a better analogy, with federal human trafficking laws but legal brothels in Nevada?

I'm saying that the question of legalizing marijuana could be similar to the one taken for legalizing sports gambling. I never said it was legal nationwide.

What was sloppy about the 1930's law?

Whats 1930s law? The recent USSC decision was about a 1992 law. Here it is one more time:
Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 - Wikipedia
That was the original law making gambling legal in Nevada. Now that I think about it some more, there has been an inconsistent arrangement in the U.S. with legal horse racing, riverboat gambling, Indian reservation gambling, etc. for a long time. This decision clarifies the situation by making sports gambling legal in the nation and allowing states to restrict that. I don't think this applies to casino gambling which is another area that also requires the same clarification.

No, no, no.

The Supreme Court did not legalize sports betting nationwide. They said it was a 10th amendment issue and left it up to the states to decide legality.

See what I mean by someone could follow you around and constantly correct you?

That's false. That's wrong. Sports gambling is not legal nationwide.

If I were to say...

Trump's election was a landslide.

Trump's inauguration crowd was the largest in history.

Three million illegals voted for Hillary.

What's the big deal, right?
