Tattoos

Depends.

There are at least two OT passages that perhaps deal with this, one is negative--Deut. 14:1--and one is positive--Is. 49:16.

Of course, both of them are "subject to interpretation."

Then you have the same injunctions people have noted in my "Smoking" thread such as abstaining from ALL appearances of evil in 1 Th. 5:22, and the "whatsoever's" In Phil. 4:8.

Any deeper theological insights on this, I'll not make. That's up to the more eminently qualified BB theologians.

I don't see any problem with them. Just make sure if you want to get that cool Hebrew tattoo you check with a scholar as opposed to Google Translate.

I always ask people what the purpose of getting the tattoo is? Are you glorifying God or self or someone/thing else?

Isaiah 49:16 is not a positive statement concerning tattoos.

One of my co-workers has a tattoo on the back of her neck. She tells me it is the Chinese symbol for strength. I told her it was the same symbol at the Chinese restaurant for Kung Pao chicken.

She replied, "Really?"

Read the thread on smoking. so what are your thoughts on Tattoos.
I just got a new one by the way

If witchcraft should be translated medication/drugs, then I suppose tattoos would be wrong in and of themselves as well (in exclusion to a pagan use...i.e., marks for the dead). I don 't believe this, and probably you'll find the same lines being drawn here (if we are all consistent).

If the Lord wanted tattoos on people they would have been born with them.

I say amen to that. But at the same time, to each their own! I wouldn't do it, but there are many things I do, that you and others would never think of doing nor want to do!

The only problem I have with them is

1. How much money people pay to get them

2. When tattoos are on people's faces.
