Stand up, or sit on the bench.

That’s the sentiment expressed by the coach of hockey’s Team USA, John Tortorella.

Tortorella, the Columbus Blue Jackets coach who will be making the calls for the American team in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, told ESPN that he will not tolerate any players sitting in solidarity with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

“If any of my players sit on the bench for the national anthem, they will sit there the rest of the game,” he said, according to the network's reporter Linda Cohn.

It's a US NATIONAL team. There's a difference between representing the national team and representing an NFL privately owned team.

HOWEVER, Civil Rights are Civil Rights and he would have done well to have kept his mouth shut on the issue as it's rarely necessary to play anybody's anthem during such tournaments unless the team wins.

Now he's opened his mouth and stuck his foot in it and basically said I'm going to threaten you with the bench if you choose to exercise your rights.

Lawsuit.

He doesn't go far enough. They should be booted from the team.

Love to see him try. Talk about the proverbial black eye. I would just about bet that he would be relieved of said duties before a player was kicked off the team for not standing for the anthem.

I'll go you one further ... if this country is so disgusting and despicable, revoke their citizenship and deport them to the country of their choice!

They happen to be in the country of their choice. It would seem more reasonable to deport the ones who think they don't deserve to afford themselves of their Constitutional rights without stupid talk of revoking citizenship.

I just witnessed one today, and it's Friday. So, they must have added a day on their flight plans ;)

Delta Airlines (R) now offers non-stop service from farm to city 5 days a week! All onboard meals are certified pork-free by Orthodox Jewish rabbi consultants.

I am 6'5" and more than 300 lbs. They cram those seats on top of each other. I will not fly them anymore.

Yes, I could see how that would be challenging. I'm 5'9'' and under 200, so I haven't had any trouble myself.

It seems that airlines in general tend to be more and more cramped, at least when compared to the past.

I'm 6'4" at a little less than 250 lbs. I'll pay extra for the bulkhead seats or the emergency exit seats if I can get them.
