In light of the deal Trump made with Pelosi and Schumer take a look at this clip from January 21, 2016, weeks before the New Hampshire primary.

[transcript]
"We’re seeing something fairly remarkable happen on the political terrain. We are seeing the Washington establishment abandoning Marco Rubio. I think they’ve made the determination that Marco can’t win. And they’re rushing to support Donald Trump. And just yesterday, Bob Dole explained why the establishment is supporting Donald Trump. They said, “He’s someone we can make a deal with. He’s someone we can cut a deal with.” And I would note, Donald just a couple days ago drew the difference between me and him. And he said, “Look, Ted won’t go along to get along. He won’t cut a deal.” So if as a voter you think what we need is more Republicans in Washington to cut a deal with Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer, then I guess Donald Trump’s your guy."

The answer to that question in the 2016 election was a definite yes. It defined them all. That is why Trump is president.

Good point. If Trump wants to be President again in 2020 he better lead on the immigration issue and not flip-flop on the same day and turn it over to Congress.

I've said all along that, if trump betrays his voters on immigration, he will be a one term president. It's far from over. DACA is just a small part of the issue. Dealing with it through legislation instead of illegal executive orders is a good first step.

I don't see what's so funny about it, Trump had personally donated to both, especially Chuckie, and he'd hired illegal aliens. I don't think Cruz ever trusted Trump on anything. He would have been the nominee if not for Trump.

Rubio - who I like and liked - shot himself in the foot when Marco teamed up with Chuck Schumer on another amnesty idea.

Agree this is a watershed moment, any amnesty will do him in and he never could have shot someone on fifth avenue and win more voters. Finally, this is the way to prove this after all, but someone should point out to Trump that they still think he's a xenophobic racist and always will.

I have given up on predicting anything about Trump, whether he meant what he said during the campaign of if he'll do this or that or whether his base will stick with him no matter what. I have no idea how anything will play out.

This is a case in point: He promised during the campaign to end DACA, then he said he was sympathetic; he announced it would be discontinued and then told Congress to make it law.
