I’ve had to sleep on the ground in the open in winter... had to move the snow outa the way. That’s the mission of the military.... to get the job done, mission accomplished.

With K-Bar in hand no doubt.

Again, that is not the point.

The point is there was no thought given in housing the troops. There was a total disregard for their conditions.

Not a sidetrack -
somehow we think everything should be perfect
In this case, The way I see it - good training!

The issue is that there was a total disregard for the housing of the troops. No thought given as where to house them.

That troops obey orders, that they can endure, is not the point at all.

They wouldn’t of had to be there in the 1st place if the insurrection at the capital on Jan 6 had not happened.

Oh Q, no don’t demean my K-Bar... it’s not a trenching device... nor is it a rifle. But it is sharp and can be used to shave if there is nothing else to do the job. You don’t have respect for it apparently, equating it to a tooth pick... so would you prefer a stab wound from a toothpick or the K-bar... which instrument would be the most effective, maybe you shouldn’t try it out, I’m positive you’d hurt yourself and we wouldn’t want that being Christians and all.

Has anyone considered that it was the State's role (their National Guard) who should have acquired housing?

If the State has the authority to recall their troops then they were there under the State's authority.

How many of us have been in similar situations? A lot. Who was responsible? Our own operations. Facilities around have been planned out and approved by the State prior to the State sending their troops.

These guys were not federalized (they were not called up by the President), they were sent by the State

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ordered members of the Texas National Guard to return from Washington, D.C. after U.S. Capitol Police forced thousands of soldiers to sleep and rest in a parking garage.

“I have instructed General Norris to order the return of the Texas National Guard to our state,” Abbott wrote on Twitter on Thursday night.

On Thursday, U.S. Capitol Police officials kicked thousands of guardsmen out of the federal buildings where they had been resting and relegated to parking garages.

He should have never sent them.

No, they were authorized by the States.

I think they were according to this:

25K authorized; 50 States, three territories and DC Supporting Presidential Inauguration > National Guard > Press Releases

and they were supposed to be housed in:

U.S. Senate: Dirksen Senate Office Building

but, according to "Politico", the US Capitol police are the ones that threw them into the garages:

‘We feel incredibly betrayed’: Thousands of Guardsmen forced to vacate Capitol - POLITICO
United States Capitol Police | Protect and Secure Congress (uscp.gov)

so it's all on them. Why are they still there anyways?

Yep. I also checked (it would be odd for the President to call up the National Guard in that capacity). They were Title 32 (sent by the state, requested by NGB, but not called up by the President). So it was/ is up to the Governors of the states when to call them back.

I have been wondering why they are still there. I suppose funding is involved. But I do not see that they were needed in the first place, so I do not see how they are needed there now.

Gov Murphy had the NJ Guard housed in hotels.

So they were requested by the Secret Service, the Capitol Police and the Park Service. The Capitol Police seem to be a Dem thing so that is probably the source. They are still not releasing the name of the ladykiller in their ranks.
