Maybe Texas needs a Sheriff like my county's Grady Judd. Grady would put them in the paddy wagon in a heart beat.

Well, Abbott was the AG for years, so it makes sense he'd have all his facts on this.

My question is, when can he ask the court to declare that they have abandoned their seats?

I know the Texas Constitution allows that, but I don't know when.

The Texas Supreme Court has temporarily halted a judge’s order preventing Texas Governor Greg Abbott from arresting a number of Democrat state legislators who fled to Washington, D.C., last month in order to deny quorum on a handful of bills.

Except their jurisdiction ends at the State line - if not the county line - to arrest them in DC - they would have to have authority from DC.
Which in this case - may not be too easy.

He has always said he was going to arrest them as soon as they set foot in Texas.
He could actually get the A.G. to issue warrants for their arrest and have them extradited.

k

That maybe the only way for it to happen. It could be that he was hoping that they would come back on their own free will.

Just imaniage - if Republicans had done that?

That's correct. The Governor does not have that authority, but the Speaker of the House does. Did you notice that he is the one who authorized the arrests, not the Governor?

a lot of people say a lot of things around here…….
That's true, but some of us know what we are talking about and don't rely on propaganda sources to tell us what we want to hear.

The ole Gov will have them arrested. Who is responsible for the EXECUTION of all orders of arrest in Texas?

Arrest them is for purpose of forming the quorum needed for the vote. So forcibly bring them into the legislative chamber and get it done, the legislation. Everyone needs to do their job and they went AWOL, spreading covid too.

Maybe they will declare a sick out, worthless bunch all of them.

In this case, the Sergeant at Arms' of the Texas House and Senate.

You clearly don't understand the Texas Constitution. It's quite different than most others because it was passed during Reconstruction and makes the Governor's office LESS powerful that the Lt. Governor's office (among others things).
