Sorry for the long time in responding and helping to move the thread along!! Was a rainy one this weekend.

Well as for I-10 they can't finish the construction fast enough for me. On top of that if you don't do at least 66-80 you will get mowed down...no joke. Scares me pleanty to come home I-10 after choir practice late at night.

Thanks to the "Fairfield Short-cut" I've managed to cut about 20-30 minutes off a 3-4 hour drive from Houston to Athens. The most frustrating part of the trip up or down is just getting out of Houston. I think Huntsville will be the next town we "annex".

I'm sooo totally looking forward to my I-45 on Thanksgiving-Eve!  I told my mom I wasn't even going to bother to try and guestimate what time I'll be in. It's unusual since I can pick a spot on 45 between Hou and Fairfield and tell ya how long it will take to get from one to the other.

If you have never been to Tejas I highly recommend a summer vacation to Big Bend Country. Ah now those are some nice mountains there! Every spot out thatta way screams "TAKE MY PICTURE TAKE MY PICTURE TAKE MY PICTURE!!"

Lori, be careful up Faifield way. That is where I was 'given' my last ticket. Of course, it was pretty well deserved. I passed the Captain of the Sheriff's Department in a no-passing lane. Whoduthunk he'd a pulled me over for that?

I guess he don't drive in Houston too often. :D

I grew up in Baytown and my husband in Channelview. I haven't been back since 1987. I probably wouldn't be able to find my way around.

Aww LorrieG who would want to find their way around Houston? lol Phx has got a much much better system of finding your way. Strangers to Phx can find their way in just minutes because they're on a grid system. I really really liked that.

Well thanks for the advice Bro JR, I will heed it. I also tend to slow down while going through New Waverly...since they give out tickets too. I shore hope my short cut by lake chambers dam isn't closed, bc then I'll have to go through Corsicana and that just will stink. Especially if it gets dark. Then I just get turned around and can't get on 31W. Oy I hope the drive up goes good...want to see her, but I'm not looking fwd to wading through all that traffic.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Lori, you think Houston is bad? Have you ever been in Waco? The complex and confusing set of roads and highways that exist in the world.

I go up there a couple of times a year and I have NEVER been when I didn't get lost!

I guess living here and driving across town everyday I'm used to all of the roads and where they lead, so I haven't been lost in Houston for quite some time. Just remember, all roads lead to 610. After that it's a piece of cake to drive around in a circle.

I myself would like to visit Texas again. For I was born in Waco, TX. I lived in the Waco are for my 1st 7 years. Then we moved to Ohio.
For the most part, Ohio is hot enough in the middle of summer, and to cold in the winter.
Today here in newark, OH it is 27 degrees at 10:36 pm on Thanksgiving 2004. Some day I'll go back to Waco for a visit!
