Starting a new thread b/c the other one was getting off topic.
As promised, here are links to the Eastern Orthodox texts of the Baptism service, and also the Theophany/Baptism of the Lord services. The relevant Scriptures are woven throughout.
(unless otherwise noted, obtained from the website of my bishop's archdiocese; it's not like these things are kept secret....haha; here is a brief explanation from our sister archdiocese of New Zealand and the Philippines, and an excursus on infant baptism from my own archdiocese)
Baptism
The Baptismal Service itself
Interestingly enough, the OT readings I'm remembering are actually the OT readings for the Vespers in the Vesperal Divine Liturgy of Great and Holy Saturday, Commemmorating Christ's Victory Over Death. Traditionally, this liturgy is accompanied by the Baptisms of those who have been preparing for such throughout Lent (which preparation is itself from whence Lent derives!), which is why the Trisagion is replaced with the hymn "As Many As Have Been" (Gal 3.27 in song form).
Therefore Baptism is found to be intimately and completely linked with the death and resurrection of Christ, which should not be surprising considering that (Rom. 6) it is the means by which we die with Him, that we might be raised also by the same Spirit. Go figure.
Here is the list of said readings (all from the LXX):
Genesis 1:1-13
Isaiah. 40:1-16
Exodus 12:1-11
Jonah (the whole book)
Joshua 5:10-15
Exodus 13:20-15:19
Zephaniah 3:8-15
3 Kings 17:8-24 (NB 3rd Kings is 1st Kings if 1st & 2nd Kings are called 1st & 2nd Samuel)
Isaiah 41:10, 11; 42:1-5
Genesis 22:1-18
Isaiah 41:1-9
4 Kings 4:8-37 (NB 4th Kings is 2nd Kings if 1st & 2nd Kings are called 1st & 2nd Samuel)
Isaiah 43:11-19; 54:1-5
Jeremiah 31:31-34 (the new covenant)
Daniel 3:1-23 (and the Song of the Three Holy Children, typically chanted from the LXX version of Daniel)
Theophany (various Scripture readings are noted in the texts)
Vespers of the Eve of Theophany
Orthros (Matins) of the Eve of Theophany
Great (Royal) Hours of Theophany
Vespers of Theophany
Festal Orthros (Matins) of Theophany
Divine Liturgy Variables for Theophany
Great Sanctification of the Waters
Great Vespers for the Synaxis of St. John the Baptist
Festal Orthros for the Synaxis of St. John the Baptist
Divine Liturgy Variables for the Synaxis of St. John the Baptist
(Note: The Synaxis of St. John the Baptist is a feast commemorating the Baptist's role in the Theophany, and is as such relevant, because it completes the cycle of the Theophanic Feast.)
What OT scriptures exactly are you appealing to [i.e. relevant to Baptism] brother and how do we apply them to salvation by grace through faith?
Anyway, there is plenty more Scripture to pull. See the Baptismal Service of the Eastern Orthodox Church for reference (there are 15 readings, IIRC). (I'll see if I can't dig you up a link.)
