The 10 Best Preachers In the US Are...

I have known preachers that aren't pastors and vice versa. There is a difference you know..
Shouldn't be. That's a relatively modern distinction. Never really intended from a NT standpoint, IMHO. The construction of Eph 4:11 makes it possible if not probable that the office of pastor & teacher were one office. Besides, if a pastor cannot teach/preach sound doctrine, he should not be a pastor.

I did not know that. The town is named for a couple of local businessmen who founded the town. There is also a famous congressman from Wisconsin bearing the same name.

And Joshua, you just blew me buying you a cup of coffee. Now you will have to pay for it yourself :D

Shame If someone have this name. If I would meet him, It would be hard for me not to laugh. Actually, it is a female name (the little crazy girl/woman or things like this)

And please how do you value the pastors?

Interesting question. You'll find that pastors (as far as their general ministry) are evaluated differently. I've had some churches tell me that they want their pastor to visit everyone and that they couldn't care less what he preached. While not that extreme, many Baptist chruches adopt this similar philosophy. To some churches, you have to be a certain age, look like a certain figure, drive a certain car, etc. Suffice to say that many churches have abandoned the Scriptural guidelines for selecting a pastor and chosen the traditions of man.
It is easy to see that different Baptists evaluate preaching in very different ways. Some prefer book-by-book exposition (which is my style). Others do not. Some think that you have to have a certain volume or you've not preached. Some think that the sermon must have X number of points and a one point sermon is not really a sermon.

Here's a suggestion, Cality: go to the Sermons/Apologetics forum, or do it here either one and post this topic or these topic(s) under one thread: What makes a good sermon? What makes a good preacher?

Heheh!!!!

Not just women, but REALLY GOOD examples of effective spirit-filled pastors. Two thumbs up.

Although, I was surprised that Billy Graham was not mentioned much.

My favorite preacher....hmmmm...he's no televangelist, owns no ministry...he's just a simple man I came to love. His name....Reverend Pastor Richard Johnson. Ex pastor of SouthCross Community Church.

We miss you Richard! :( :(

The best preacher has to be....ME!

No one has really heard of me, I have not published any books or spoke at any conferences you would have attended. But every Sunday morning when I stand behind my pulpit I am convinced that God has called me, prepared me and will use me to share His Word with the people and that they will listen. I can't imagine anyone being a better preacher then that.

I don't think it is necessarily the job of a pastor to "preach against" things. Just teach the bible.

Preachers have always preached against sin, I think it would be diffult to convict someone if you are not preaching against what they are doing. I could live with sin if I was going to a church that was just teaching the bible. There would be no conviction there.
