Did Jesus Christ die for the sin of unbelief ? 3

Now to show even more so that those Christ died for, which are by His death reconciled to God while they are being enemies/unbelievers Rom 5:10, to show that they are an entirely different group apart from those who while they are enemies and unbelievers, instead of being reconciled to God, they are #1 Already condemned Jn 3:18 and #2 Under Gods wrath Jn 3:36,

Now to further illustrate the difference, the enemies that Christ died for which were reconciled to God while enemies, thus already reconciled, the promise to them is that they shall be saved by His death Rom 5:10

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

To them its promised more future salvation ! However, to those enemies/unbelievers who are under Gods wrath Jn 3:36 the promise is they shall not see Life Jn 3:36

36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

See the difference now between the two different sets of enemies and unbelievers ? One set shall be saved by Christ's Life, the other set shall not see Life, but shall remain under the wrath of God ! Christ's Death makes the difference, not faith !45

By His Obedience many shall be made Righteous !

Rom 5:19

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

This is another Grand Truth of the Gospel of Gods Grace that the religious condemned world cannot and will not be persuaded of or believe, that many are made Righteous unto God solely by the Obedience of Christ alone, which obedience is His both Actively and Passively, and here's why ! In His Obedience He acted as a Surety of a Better Covenant Heb 7:22

22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament/covenant.

Thats what is meant here Heb 10:5-9

5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will[As A Surety of a Better Covenant or Testament], O God.

8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;

9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first[Testament], that he may establish the second/Better[Testament].

Now in doing this, Two things were accomplished unto the People of God and for His Glory in making them Righteous, First in His Obedience Active, He performed the Perfect Obedience that Gods Law demanded out of Love to God, for He performed the First and Greatest Commandment here stated Matt 22:36-38

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

As well as this One did He obey fully Matt 22:39-40

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

So Christ performed these Two Commandments Perfectly by His Active Obedience to Gods Law for the Many He made Righteous Rom 5:19 which they failed to do in Adam the first . And Secondly He gave Satisfaction to Gods Offended Law, That is Satisfaction to His Divine Justice, wherein they had disobeyed Gods Law first in Adam their Natural and Federal Head and in themselves which they would be committing once they were born into this world as sinners and transgressors personally; and by this His Suretyship Obedience for them He did this which was spoken by the Prophet Isaiah Isa 42:21

21 The Lord is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

This refers back to Him in His Suretyship obedience for the People Isa 42:6

I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant[Surety Heb 7:22] of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

God out of Grace has accepted Jesus Surety Obedience for many, making His Surety Obedience to His Law, theirs, and thats why it is stated Rom 5:19

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

This is why their sins, transgressions are forgiven and they reconciled to God, even when they themselves by nature are Gods enemies to Him Rom 5:10,19, what Grace, this the Natural man cannot receive 1 Cor 2:14 ! 45

It delivered us from this evil present world !

Gal 1:4

4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

One of the purposes, end results of Christ dying for our sins, was to deliver us from this present evil world [ another way of expressing salvation] according to the will of God and Our Father !

This being delivered from the present world is a purposed result of the Will of God, in Christ giving Himself for our sins, this is so much so that if anyone for whom Christ gave Himself for their sins is not delivered from this present evil world, His death failed the Will and Purpose of God Our Father !

Many in false man of sin religion today would tell us that multitudes for whom Christ died shall yet be condemned with the world for their sins, remaining lost in unbelief ! Folks that's a man of sin teaching, its not of God !

All for whom The True Christ died, all of them shall be according to the Purpose and Will of God the Father, delivered from this present evil world !

John Gill writes:

that he might deliver us from this present evil world; by which is meant, either the Jewish world, or church state, in which were a worldly sanctuary, and which were subject to ceremonies and traditions, called the elements and rudiments of the world; and who were possessed of worldly notions, and in expectation of a worldly kingdom to be set up by the Messiah; and both in principle and in practice were sadly degenerated, and were become very evil and wicked: or the present age and generation of men, whether of Jews or Gentiles, which was so corrupt, as the like was never known; or in general the present world, and the men of it, in distinction either from the world before the flood, as in 2 Peter 3:5 or rather from the new heavens and earth, which will be after the present ones, and wherein will dwell righteousness; or, in a word, from the world which is to come, as they are frequently opposed in Scripture: and which is said to be "evil", not with respect to the matter, that being all very good, as created by God; but with respect to the men of it, who lie in wickedness, under the power of the wicked one, and of their own sins; and to the things which are in it, all which are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. Now Christ gave himself a sacrifice for the sins of his people, that as in consequence of this they might be delivered and saved from the damning power, so from the governing power and influence of all that is evil in this present world; as from Satan, the god of it, who has usurped a power over it; from the lusts that are predominant in it; from the vain conversation of the men of it; from the general conflagration of it at the last day, and from the perdition of ungodly men, and their eternal destruction in hell: and all this is according to the will of God, and our Father, It was by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God that Christ was delivered up into the hands of wicked men, and put to death by them; it was his will of purpose and decree, to deliver him up into the hands of justice and death, and that he should give himself sacrifice for sin; yea, it was his will of command, that he should lay down his life for his sheep, to which he was obedient; it was his pleasure, it was what was agreeable to him, was to his good liking, that he should die for the sins of his people; it was owing to the love of God, who is our Father in Christ, and by adopting grace, and not to any worth or desert of ours, that Christ gave himself for us; as his own love, so his Father's will, were what solely moved him to it.

It delivered us from this evil present world !2

God the Father purposed that through the death of Christ, His Children should be delivered from the evil of this present world, it was according to His Will Gal 1:4

4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

The same will of God as here Rom 8:27

And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

And here 1 Pet 4:19

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Also notice Paul said He Christ was delivered for Our sins according to the Will of God and Our Father !

This expressly tells us that Christ died for the Children of God, God was their Father, when Christ gave Himself for them and their sins ! They were always Gods children, He was always their Father, that is why He Loved them so, to give His Only Begotten Son for them, their Elder Brother ! When He came to die for their sins, He was made Like unto His Brethren scripture says here Heb 2:17

17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

And that's not talking about the jews in the flesh, because Jesus made it clear that many if not most of them had not God as their Father Jn 8:41-42

41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

So quite frankly they could not have been His Brethren, and had God His Father as their Father !

But thats who Christ gave Himself for, those who had God as their Father Gal 1:4

4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

If He is Our God, He is Our Father ! Not all men have God as their Father ! 46

Christ is a Saviour because He gives Repentance !

Acts 5:31

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Christ is a Saviour, that's what His Finished work accomplished for all them He died for and was raised for [Their Justification], raised to the Right Hand to be a Saviour to Gods Elect Israel. Now incorporated/included in Him being a Saviour, is that He gives, not offer, but He gives, bestows upon Israel, Gods Elect, or His Church Eph 5:25 Repentance !

Now exactly what is this Repentance that the Saviour of the Church/Israel gives them ?

For one, its Repentance to the Belief or Acknowledging of the Truth. Thats what God given Repentance gives, 2 Tim 2:25-26

25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

John Gill writes:

If God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth: repentance here designs a repentance of errors in principle, a change of mind upon conviction, and such as issues in a free and ingenuous confession, and acknowledgment of the truth before opposed; and such a repentance is the gift of God: it is he that opens the eyes of the understanding, and works conviction in the mind, and leads into all truth, as it is in Jesus; and induces men to repent of their errors, confess their mistakes, and own the truth; even as repentance of evil practices is not owing to the power of men, nor to the bare influence of means, but to the efficacious grace of God, it being a grant from him. And though this is not certain, that God will give repentance to such contradictors and blasphemers of his Gospel; yet as it is his will, that all his chosen ones should come to repentance, and that some of all sorts should be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth; and seeing these things have been brought about under and by the ministry of the word, it is an encouragement to the ministers of the Gospel to continue their instructions in the manner here directed.

Its Repentance to the same acknowledging of the Truth here that is to Gods Elect Titus 1:1

Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness

Now understand, If Christ is really Our Saviour, its evidenced by His Granting Us Repentance to the Acknowledgement of the Truth of the Gospel as it is Him !

Christ cannot possible be the Saviour of any man that remains in unbelief, unrepentant , unchanged towards the Truth of the Gospel, for that to happen would be an indictment against Him being a Risen Saviour at the Right Hand of God ! 46

Glorying in the Cross of Christ !

Gal 6:14

14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

True Believers Glory in the Cross for all of Salvation, not the Cross plus their freewill decision, or not the Cross and their faith and or repentance, but solely in the Cross of Christ, because by it alone we experience the reality of the World crucified unto us, and we to the world !

I have been crucified to something and it has been crucified to me, so that we are dead to each other all fellowship and contact between us has ceased,

By His Cross We are not and cannot never come into condemnation with the world 1 Cor 11:32

32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

By it, the Cross alone we are delivered from this present evil world according to the Purpose and Will of God the Father Gal 1:4-5

4 Who gave himself for our sins, that[purpose] he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

5 To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.46

Glorying in the Cross of Christ !2

We Glory in Christ Cross/Blood alone because by it, even when we were enemies, unbelievers, at active enmity against God, we were still reconciled to God by the Blood of His Son Rom 5:10

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death[Cross, Blood] of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

When this Truth is revealed to God given Faith, we Glory in the Cross of Christ. This Reconciliation by the Cross of Christ takes place without our Faith, without our consent, in fact without our knowledge of it, but while in ignorance.

Also by it [The Cross, Blood, Death] of Christ, without Faith, We are Justified before God and Declared Righteous before Him, Per Rom 5:19b

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

This obedience of His is His obedience unto the Cross Phil 2:8

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

All this happened as a result and effect of the Cross of Christ apart from any of our obedience, faith, repentance of our own, and while we were enemies, and by this way, Christ has secured unto Himself all the Glory of Our Salvation, and by this Knowledge being communicated to us, We Glory in the Cross, Boast in the Lord and what His Cross has done !

Christ has abolished death by His death !

2 Tim 1:10

10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

See the wages of sin is death Rom 6:23, and because Christ has taken away the sins of those He died for, for them death has been abolished !

This is a True Gospel fact, all for whom He died, Gods Elect 2 Tim 2:10 have had for them death abolished [its the Gift of God] through Christ. Now the word abolished here in the text is the greek word katargeó and means:

(a) I make idle (inactive), make of no effect, annul, cancel abolish, bring to naught, (b) I discharge, sever, separate from.
to bring to a end,

here are how some of the other translations define it :

but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. NIV

and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, ESV

but now made visible through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus. He has broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel! NET

but is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has annulled death, and has brought life and incorruption to light through the gospel, Jubilee Bible 2000

but now [that extraordinary purpose and grace] has been fully disclosed and realized by us through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus who [through His incarnation and earthly ministry] abolished death [making it null and void] and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,

Now understand, everyone Christ tasted death for, every man Heb 2:9, He as their Saviour abolished death for them, and consequently as evidence, they must be made alive from spiritual death, which death was due to sin Eph 2:1,5

And you hath he quickened[made alive], who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened[made alive] us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved)

Thats why He is Our Saviour, He makes us alive from Spiritual Death, its the Gift of God.

At His Resurrection He officially for them becomes a Lifegiving Spirit 1 Cor 15:45

45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Thats because, by His death for their sins, putting them away Heb 9:26

For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

He put away the consequence of their sins, which was death, and quickens them to life as proof, verification that death for them has been abolished by Him their Saviour !

Folks its impossible for Christ to have died for someone and they are not made alive unto God because He for them abolished death ! 46

Delivered us from the curse of the Law !

Those Christ died for have been delivered from the curse of the Law, so we read in Gal 3:13

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

What is the Curse of the Law ? Simply this, Hell, Eternal Separation from God in endless torment ! Its Eternal Misery and Woe, its that being accursed Paul writes of here Gal 1:8-9

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Which the word means:

anathema:

a votive offering, a thing devoted to God; a curse, the thing cursed.

place up, referring to something pledged (given up) to destruction; a divine curse/ban ("accursed"); an "oath-curse."

a thing devoted to God without hope of being redeemed, and, if an animal, to be slain (Leviticus 27:28, 29); therefore a person or thing doomed to destruction, Joshua 6:17;

a man accursed, devoted to the direst woes

, Romans 9:3 (pregnantly equivalent to doomed and so separated from Christ).

Christ has been made a Curse for them He died for, redeeming them from it, how ? Not by their faith or repentance, but by being made a curse for them , by dying for them !

Now because He was made a curse for them, they dont have to be made a curse. The curse is Eternal Death, Christ for His People underwent their Eternal Death !

Delivered us from the curse of the Law !2

Listen those whom Jesus will speak these words unto Matt 25:41

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

They cannot be anyone Christ died for, because all them He died for were redeemed from the curse of the Law. This Everlasting Fire they are cursed into is the curse of the Law, its the Second Death Rev 21:8

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Jesus calls them cursed in Matt 25:41 because they were not by His Death redeemed from the curse of the Law, and consequently their sins remain against and on them , they die in their sins Jn 8:24.

Understand, those cursed going into everlasting fire Matt 25:41, are going into the second death Rev 21:8, which all death is the wages of sin Rom 6:23

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

For the wages of sin is death,.... By sin, is meant every sin, original sin, actual sin, every kind of sin, lesser and greater: the "death" which sin deserves, is a corporeal death; which is not owing to the original nature and constitution of men; nor merely to the divine appointment; but to sin, and the decree of God, on account of it; which is inflicted on Christless sinners, as a punishment for sin, though not on believers as such, because Christ has took away the sting and curse of it: a death of diseases and afflictions also follows upon sin, as its proper demerit; which are properly punishments to wicked men, and are occasioned by sin in believers: there is a death of the soul, which comes by sin, which lies in an alienation from God, in a loss of the image of God, and in a servitude to sin; and there is an eternal death, the just wages of sin, which lies in a separation of soul and body from God, and in a sense of divine wrath to all eternity; and which is here meant, as is clear from its antithesis, "eternal life",
John Gill

But for all whom Christ died, He hath as a Gift to them, abolished death 2 Tim 1:10

10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

Its inconsistent with the accomplishment of Christ's death, for anyone He died for to go into the second death, or the Lake of fire as those in Matt 25:41 !
