I noticed in this Sunday's episode they left out Jesus' siblings in the scene where Mary and Joesph are traveling with Mary and Jesus on the donkey. The boy Jesus looks to be about 8 or 9 at this time. Mary would have most likely of had Jesus' siblings by now. I assume they did this not to offend the Catholics.

Yeah, they need to read their Bible:

Luke 2:41-52, NIV:

Every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover. When he was twelve years old, they went up to the Feast, according to the custom. After the Feast was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you." "Why were you searching for me?" he asked. "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?" But they did not understand what he was saying to them. Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

It should be noted that nowhere in Scripture are Jesus' siblings said to be the children of Mary. The earliest tradition was that Joseph was an older widower, and that Jesus' siblings were Joseph's children from that previous marriage. I know this is not specifically recorded in Scripture, but it may explain: (1) why Joseph was no longer around by the time Jesus is grown up and (2) why his brothers were not afraid to talk down to Jesus (since they were older, not younger).

At any rate, as the siblings (whether older step-siblings or younger half-siblings) aren't specifically mentioned in that particular passage recorded by Luke, perhaps they were just trying to be true to the text.

EXCELLENT POINTS!!

Thinkingstuff mentioned to me that: 'Tertullian questioned it (which shows that this was an early belief). Most of the ECF's believed these were children of Mary Cleopas a relative of Jesus, Joseph and Mary. To include Jerome who had access to earlier texts both greek and hebrew than any modern bible scholar'.

I tried to watch some of it last night but just had to change the channel. There was a scene where they showed an eagle atop the Temple and men being shot with arrows trying to knock it down. Where is this in the Bible?

Totally untrue, as I have shown.

But if people want to believe in fables, that's their problem.

actually, the Bible pretty clear that once jesus was born, joseph than knew mary in sense of Intercourse, and they had more children, as Mary NOT required to stay a perpetual Virgin, for she was a sinner, and still saved by jesus, not by her own purity!

Really? Which verse or verses specifically say that Mary had any children other than Jesus, or that His listed siblings were the children of Mary? IF you 'have shown that, then you've discovered a verse which has alluded detection by everyone else in the history of the Church. (It's not one of those 'Lost Gospels, is it? )

I have posted scripture and scholarship which disprove the RC fables. To follow the RCC in this, one has to willfully disregard scripture, scholarship, reason, and intelligence and blindly follow the hierarchy and their vain traditions of men.

I'm not asking anyone to "follow the RCC"--even the early Reformers like Luther, Zwingli, and Cranmer (and later, John Wesley) believed Mary did not have any other biological children. I'm merely asking for the Scripture verses that specifically say that Mary is the mother of the children who are listed as Jesus' siblings or that she had any other children after Jesus.

He can't do it because it's not scriptural. Mary having other children is an unscriptural idea that was concocted only about 300 years ago by persons who had little education, less understanding of scripture, no regard for tradition and a burning desire to put as much distance as possible between themselves and Catholicism.

Well, tonights episode was very disappointing. Here is what I don't understand; The script has already been written, no time or labor needed to sit down, think about what the actor should say. So why the butcher job to the written narrative???

Such a lost opportunity to give the power of the gospel, for it has been stripped out in many ways.

Already given, several times.

You don't do the ever-virgin fable any favors by citing state church baby baptizers as believers in it; their beliefs on the latter were also unscriptural.

Sorry it took me so long to respond; I lost track of this thread.

It is scriptural, as I have shown many times. And the rest of your post is multiple falsehoods, ignorance, and insults concocted by someone who disregards scripture and scholarship and chooses instead to bind your mind to fable, folklore, fantasy, and idolatry.

I must confess I don't understand the tearing down of this program. Would you rather they be showing Dancing with the Stars?

Why tear down a parent who is abusing his child? Shouldn't I be happy they aren't killing them?

No, when anything is dealing with the Scriptures, I would like to see exceptional work, as is worthy of the Word of God. I don't like liberties taken with the text and outright contradictions not involved at all. This program is not worth the time to watch it IMO. Yes, it's the "Bible" but it's not the Bible that I read daily.

•Matthew 12:46-47 - "While He was still speaking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him. And someone said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You."

•Matthew 13:55 - "Is not this the carpenters son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas?"

•Mark 6:2-3 - "And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue; and the many listeners were astonished, saying, "Where did this man get these things, and what is this wisdom given to Him, and such miracles as these performed by His hands? "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?"

•John 2:12 - "After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother, and His brothers, and His disciples; and there they stayed a few days."

•Acts 1:14 - "These all with one mind were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers."

•1 Cor. 9:4-5 - "Do we not have a right to eat and drink? Do we not have a right to take along a believing wife, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?"

•Gal. 1:19 - But I did not see any other of the apostles except James, the Lords brother."

It is true that I flee from Catholicism but that is because of the Council of Trent and all of the curses to hell that Catholicism leveled at Protestants.

Ah, yes, and in which of these verses does it say that Mary was their mother?

One other thing CMG, are you from Central Indiana or Central, Indiana (Harrison County)? You can PM me if you don't care to say publicly.
