The Blood of the Lamb

The Blood of the Lamb

"And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony..." (Revelation 12:11)

Scripture gives a clear answer concerning victory over the enemy. The saints overcome not by rituals, formulas, or repeated acts of deliverance, but by the blood of the Lamb.

The sacrifice of Christ was not partial. It was complete.

"For in that he died, he died unto sin once..." (Romans 6:10)

The Lord Jesus Christ died once for sin. Through faith in Him, the believer is forgiven, justified, and reconciled to God. The foundation of our deliverance is not found in our ability to defeat darkness, but in Christ's victory at Calvary.

This is why Scripture points us back to the finished work of Christ rather than to ourselves.

"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." (John 8:36)

The believer has not received a spirit of bondage, but the Spirit of adoption.

"For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father." (Romans 8:15)

The Christian life is certainly a battle. Yet our confidence rests not in repeated attempts to secure freedom, but in the One who has already secured it through His death and resurrection.

The blood of the Lamb remains sufficient.

It was sufficient when it was shed.

It is sufficient today.

And it will remain sufficient forever.
